Can anyone help me with my Sky tv package as I am losing the will to live!

I am really sorry if this is in the wrong forum and apologise for my ignorance about Sky but here goes.

I currently have -
Sky+ = £18
1 extra package = £1
Sky broadband of 2mg = £5
BT phoneline = £12.79
Total cost = £36.79 per month.

Not sure if I am getting the best deal for what I need. I am so confused by the many offers that are advertised in the paper , through the post and on the tv. The small print is a nightmare to get through and digest.

The broadband amount that we have is not really enough and we have to be careful not to go over it. Is there a better option that is available?

I have heard about Sky talk , not sure if it is worth me changing over?

Recently noticed that Sky is advertising a Sky+ HD box. Are the deals available worth looking at?

Apologies again for my total lack of understanding and hope that someone on here can help me!

if you switch your calls (not your line rental) over to sky with sky talk (which is free) then you would get your broadband for free, saving you £5! or your could go onto the mid broadband (usually £10) for £5 which would give you a 10mb usage or unlimited for £10 instead of £15.

Thanks for the reply. I thought you had to switch over to Sky for your landline too to get this deal. Am I wrong? Really sorry for yet more questions!

I have my line rental with BT but use sky talk and get £5 discount each month.

ATM I actually have sky tv with 3 picks @ £21 reduced to £10.50 for 6 month (threatened to cancel)
unlimited broadband half price for upgrading £7.50pm, then the discount for skytalk for £5

so Im only paying £13 for the next 6 month.

BT on top of that for line rental. :)

No, you dont have to switch your phone line to Sky. But you can if you wish. Think its about £1 a month cheaper.

I get free broadband and free calls evening and weekends.
Dont forget, they are following BT and moving the free call times from 1st June from 6pm to 7pm.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

I don't know how you all get these deals!
My BT deal (unlimited evening and weekend plan deal) is due for renewal on the 26th may so I have to sort something out quickly.
Davesafc - Do I need to change my plan with BT if I do what you do with skytalk? Looks like you know exactly how to work Sky. I am hopeless with them on the phone!!!I get flumoxed and forget half of what I want to ask! Always end up with a rubbish deal lol

McKneff- thanks for the reply and about how they are moving the free call times, really appreciate it.

Im sure you just ring sky, as long as your out of contract with bt then you dont need to contact bt at all. As for sky if you have been with them for a few years and are not still in a 12month contract then just ring up and tell them you wish to cancel, more than likely they will offer you a discount of some sort but even if they dont and accept your cancelation you can just ring straight back up as soon as you get cut off (after the 30 day notice is up) and speak to reconnections and you can get your tv back on within hours, they may even give you something for reconnecting, but you will need to do this before you take sky talk and the broadband offer or you will tied into a new contract for 12 months and not have much chance of getting anything else :)

BT on top of that for line rental. :)

If you switch your calls to Sky but leave your line rental with BT then BT will charge you extra for Voicemail 1571 and Caller Display if you use them as you will not be making any calls through them. Once your calls are with Sky it is impossible to make calls through BT as the override codes to force your calls over BT no longer work.

Thanks for that. Looks like I might be better off changing my line to Sky and save £1 off the rental!

Don't. Go to the Home Phones section and read up on the pitfalls of unbundled lines (LLU). It's a one way street, unfortunately. Certainly not worth it for a quid a month.
