We have exchanged contracts this afternoon and I have promised our buyer the house will be emptied next week before the 21st (completion).
Turns out our solicitor had posted contract for us to sign on Tuesday and had been waiting for them back.
We did not get any contract through the post or otherwise. S**'s Law it will arrive tomorrow - four days first class post to go from one place to another two streets away - wow what a service.
We raced down to sign the contract this afternoon and after a flurry of panic stricken calls it alll got sorted.
DH looking much less stressed and I feel much better too. Gosh the relief!
I love the song "Thank you for the days" too.

Well done for doing what you felt to be right without feeling you were being a hypocrite. ( I had a blood clot in both lungs in November but got quick treatment and was back home in a week).

Elona...congratulations on house move being sorted...did it once 15 years ago and next move will definitely be in a box!
Has been slightly warmer today here, clothes dried and in....will need airing but that's fine. We had a late breakfast to-day and then went to bank, bought some mussels on way home and had them as a 'light' dinner with bread and butter.
Minding DD3's dog to-night as she has gone to a hen party and boyfriend has gone home....Mossy promptly went out the fields and rolled in some very fresh cow poo, so had to hose him off, he was well behaved while I did it I must say as he is a big strong dog I wouldn't have been able to hold him if he bolted. All the while Kerry was biting the water so she was wet through also....they are now konked out in the kitchen recovering.
JackieG...wise move to tell the boys, hope that she recovers well.
Looking after DSG2 in morning as DD4 has signed up, at her own expense, for some course or other...she finds teaching in her current school very difficult from a discipline point of view, is now regretting that she didn't take other job she was offered last year, as she knew how that school was from doing substitute there previously. Annie...horrified to hear of Mark's ordeal, would be totally unable to deal with that, would want to thump the life out of them which of course but other option would be bursting into tears...just as well I don't teach I think.
Have never been to a market in this country, there is one which opened lately at one of our local racecourses, have been meaning to go every Sunday since and something has happened to stop me, think I might make it this week don't need anything so will have to be careful.
Need an early night I think, couldn't wake up this morning and have been feeling tired all day.
Hugs to all in need or want, have a good weekend

Evening All
DS is home, due to car (our old one) needed MOT and 2 new tyres. DNephew is MOT examiner and Mechanic so looks after it for him.
Made meat pie with pheasant which we had a while ago but it was tough so I bunged it in the SC and it was great. Also got some bramley appples and made a blackberry and apple crumble, with enough crumble mix in the fridge for another couple.
Just had dinner, with some nice rioja wine, but not space for crumble yet.
((((hugs)))) where needed. Take care DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Evening everybody
Not much happening here today, hm pizza thingy for tea from the freezer - nice and easy. Am thinking about a glass of red in a mo, it's all your faults!!
Came home from work full of energy and completely gutted my bedroom, moved the furniture around and everything. DD currently trying to do hers - will be surprised if she can get past the door, I gave up trying!!
JackieG - think you have made the right decision. I fell out with my MIL years ago and when DH died I took the children to see her - just dropped them off at the end of the drive, watched them go in and then went back to fetch them later. (It was a bit of a bind as they live 250 miles away), but at least my pride was in tact but didn't feel the kids were being banished. Hope everything works out.
That Kirsty MacColl song was played at a friends funeral and everyone joined hands and sang along - very touching.
Congrats on the house move Elona.
Take care everyone. Enjoy Friday night!0 -
Annie hope Mark is ok . what a nightmare, my DH is a 2ndry school teacher and I wouldnt do his job for the world
they shouldnt have to put up with violence and carp that they do
I have had a lovely day , but its been a complete food fest
I took DM and Stdad out for lunch, had gammon chips veg and 2 fried eggs
then we went to castleton - a very picturesque village in the peak district and had an ice cream and then went to a tea shop and had a cream tea
:o
then DB and sil rang to say they were going for a carvery at 6pm did we want to come - of course we went and had a huge meal there too
oh well diets gone out of the window0 -
Anniestar, what an experience for poor Mark. Sadly, sounded all too familiar. Am glad I'm now retired. But one day's suspension only?? Madness.
many of you have been sympathetic over my troubles this week - today we've been at A & E with DS2 with his pancreas playing up. They were fantastic, administering pain relief within minutes of our arrival. He's now been admitted so we wait to see what tomorrow will bring. And yes it's the same hospital his brother was in... Rain and pouring come to mind.Resolution:

Annie - How terrible! I can't believe they only got a days suspension and the police weren't called. I'm sure that the police weren't called to save face and maintain the schools reputation.
Beemuzed - Hope DS2 is more comfortable now and that you and he are both able to get a good nights sleep and things look brighter in the morning (((HUGS))) x
Well ... it's passed my bedtime and the eye lids are getting heavy!! We went out for a lovely meal that my DP's paid for (very much appreciated) I was glad that I didn't eat much for lunch as the food was lovely and (despite having a calorific desert) I didn't come out feeling uncomfortably bloated as I have done before. I'm just going to look over tomorrow's meal plans and then pass out ... and cross fingers and toes that dogs and kids let me have a little lie in in the morning ... even 7.30am would be a HUGE bonus!!
Tomorrow I intend to garden, clean car inside and then load it up ready for car boot.
Hope everyone has a good nights sleep.
