Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Friday 14th May.It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning
Wet and windy start to the day here. Good for the few things I have in the garden like Garlic and Onions, but not so good for the projects I had hoped to do.
Long weekend off for me and so I had hoped to finish a few things. I guess I will have to do something else.
Found a few bargains at Coop last night, needed milk and ended up with some choccy's reduced and other odds and ends. Cadbury mini eggs 100g bag only 27p.
Hope everyone is well...

Morning all,
No rain here yet, but it looks like it might do later on, off to work today but early finish.
This afternoon I need to do a couple of washes and water the garden pots, unless it rains.
Chicken kiev for tea, which were on bogof in sainsbugs, will do some jacket potatoes sweet corn and maybe some asparagus. I have discovered that my dd loves asparagus, typical she wont eat spinach which is as cheap as chips but loves expensive asparagus
I love fridays, short day at work, easy tea and then open a bottle of wine . Tomorrow we may have a ride out to a pub about 1/2 hour away, which sells local asparagus, huge bunches for £2, its a really nice ride out, and close to a posh town with many charity shops
.
Ok best go and make my lunch, have good days all
ladygrim, hope you are ok xx0 -
Morning
I have hiccups! very annoying.
Work today - The first political party to making working on friday illegal will get my vote
Didn't have the pork steaks yesterday so that will be tonights dinner. And I too feel a bottle of wine is in order for this evening.
I only have one msing job to do all weekend and that's a cafe lunch tomorrow which is hardly strenuous and I am looking forward to a weekend in the house. Hopefully my joints will ease up and let me do some cooking and baking.

HELLO EVERYONE - wow - the day away from my kids (when they were in nursery / school) certainly helped me refocus and work out another strategy to try. This is now working (OK it's early days!). My FIL also phoned yesterday and informed me that they're visiting this weekend -YIKES. So am quickly clearing the house of all the junk and checking we've enough duvets to keep everyone warm - if not then I'll be under blankets if we've got any here!
Have food in the freezer which should do to feed everyone with - but will need some extra veggies to streeeeetch it out a bit, and then a luxurious pud to keep everyone from being hungry! Have meeting this morning with coffee shop girls - and then have to get eldests hair cut after school. So might be a fun day - we'll have to see. Thanks for the PMs that I got yesterday - very thoughtful of people to spare some time for me. Thank you. Right, cup is empty so need more coffee, then have to get dressed for the school run as I can't do it in my jammies!!
Have a brill Friday xxMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Good morning,
It's a house cleaning day today as I did nothing much yesterday. Grumpy was awake from 12:30am to 2:30am on Wednesday night, claiming to be bored and not tired, so after I dropped him off at school, I went back to bed.
I have filled in the forms for my career break at work, so hopefully from the end of July I will be a SAHM. Decluttering this house should give me plenty to do for the first year or so!
Our lettuce, tomato and pumpkin seeds are growing well on the kitchen windowsill. It's wet and windy here today (and cold), so it's too early to put them outside yet.
Take care all of you.0 -
Morning all
Bargainbird - the weight loss was started by looking at photos at my best friends wedding last May, I couldn't believe had bad and old I looked! It really was a wake up call, although I have always had a battle with my weight. I've lost the weight on my own this time with none of the well known diet clubs/programs. Been there and done all of them and I truly believe that's a good part of the problem, I've lost the weight and then put it all back on and some more besides each time. I looked at my lifestyle and what I was eating. I cut out eating "c**p", I always have 3 meals a day, breakfast of porridge made with part water and milk and a coffee, lunch is a greek salad, diet yogurt, fresh fruit salad and dinner is a normal dinner, but smaller portions. If the family are having chips I will generally have a jacket potato or jacket sweet potato and I've stayed away from things like breaded chicken, pastry etc. If I want/need a snack then I have fresh fruit/yogurt/fruit and nuts or seeds etc. If I want something naughty then I do have it, enjoy it and drawn a line under it and carry on. It does sound boring I know but for me it's really worked and now I know that I don't want to be fat anymore and I really like a glass or 3 of wine and wasn't able to consider giving this up (I'm not an alcoholic but I really enjoy a drink with hubby or friends - we have quite a social type of lifestyle as we have a touring caravan). Drink loads of water, I really does help with the weight loss - I don't know why but it does!
Love and hugs to those who are sad or poorly.
Beautiful sunshine start to the day but still chilly. Had a very productive day yesterday, got most of the jobs on my list done, so was really exhausted last night. Today I need to go to the bank and building society, put washing out, do a food shop, wash and change bedding, pack for going away and do some baking/cooking and iron anything that needs it! And if I get time sort some bits to sell on ebay, photograph them and get them for sale.
Keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Boo it's raining, my work kids wanted a BBQ on the beach today. We can still have the BBQ at our cabin as there is a sheltered bit behind it but I wish it was sunny! It will be a tad emotional to say goodbye to them later.
I'm off to the rugby this evening so no OS for me as I won't get home til 10pm ish!

Morning

DS was sleeping to nearly 7am. Now it's back to 6am-6.15am - boy does that half an hour make a difference to how tired I feel generally
Anyway mindee coming in around an hour, just put the vac round and going to have a coffee. Neice and my mum are coming round to play later on this morning so will be having a housefull of kids! Weather dry and bright although feels a bit chilly. I think rain is heading our way this afternoon.
Using my new washing machine this morning. WOW is all I can say to the size of the drum. My old WM was tiny by comparison
Tea tonight is chicken and pepper creamy cous cous.
Pen-pin - Hugs to you xxx
flutterby - don't cry when you wave them all off

NPM - hugs x
JC - BOO!! Did that get rid of your hiccups?
MSD - you ok chick?
PenPin - Good luck at the hospital today x
I'm devoting most of today to getting excited about Ashes to Ashes tonight - it's the penultimate episode  And I need to come up with some stuff to feed us with over the weekend with an empty freezer, fridge and storecupboard... Never let it be said that I make things easy for myself :rotfl:
Happy Friday everyone, hugs all round xxSometimes that mountain you've been climbing is just a grain of sand,
