I cant believe that there isnt a mobile phone app thread already, I've searched, but found nothing! Sombody please point me in the right dirrection if there is one already?

So my question is, what are the best apps you've downloaded for your phones?
Mine are:

WhatGas Petrol Prices
App to find the cheapest fuel prices in your area. All prices are sumitted by users, so some areas are more uptodate than others!

Fuelage - Fuel and Millage Tracker
App to track your fuel usage and cost, mpg etc!

ShopSavvy
Scan the barcode of products in, and it searches the internet for the cheapest prices online, and locally!

Google Nav (Part of Maps)
Basic, free sat nav! Incoperating street view!

Opera Mini 5 Beta
Web browser. Alot faster than standard browser even when you havnt got wifi or 3G!

I look forward to what others come up with!

3G watchdog.

Bearing in mind the other thread about 500mb allowance per month, this little app keeps an eye on my usage.

This would be good. How do you find the apps??

Looking at an SE X10 and people are saying get this app and that app, but without typing it in google after already knowing about it how do you find an extensive list of them and what they do?

Anyone know what that layer program is where you can see your friends in a crowd or identify building.

The easiest way I found to search and download apps is by the QR code method. To get started see this link http://htcapps.com/how-to-download-htc-apps/ then use the QR code method for fast search and download from any website that provides QR codes. For starters see this nice catalog of QR codes and reviews on https://www.htcapps.com

I waded through many websites and made a word document of more than 12 pages with links to recommended apps from various websites. But that doc is too big to post here I think. Can't use most of it myself as internal memory limits more apps unless I root the phone but that voids the warranty. This won't be an issue after June 23 when supposedly the desire gets the froyo 2.2 update which will allow apps to be installed on the microSD cards which go upto 32 gb

Another good website to download by the QR codes method is http://www.cyrket.com/search?category=6953&market=android&sort=popular&free=
Here you can see loads of apps and select popular ones by just pressing the QR code (funny looking square Barcode) and will take you directly to that app on the market. You can use this method if browsing from the phone. If you are browsing from a computer the open the barcode app from mentioned in my previous post in this thread then use that barcode scanner to scan the QR code from your computer screen and it will directly take you to the product on the market to download. Hope this helps newbies to download stuff quickly from the market. You won't have to type anything once you have the barcode app named in above post ( not any other barcode app) and have bookmarked the https://www.htcapps.com and http://www.cyrket.com/search?category=6953&market=android&sort=popular&free= websites. There are a few others that give QR codes but these are the best I have found yet.

turn your camera flash LED into a LED flashlight. this works fine on my htc desire. the app found on the market is called 'LED Desire Light' and is by 'nostovic' you can either install a widget on your screen or a shortcut to the program. the widget just switches the LED on and off. the shortcut gives access to all the settings for adjusting brightness etc.

another flashlight uses the screen light, this is ok as well. it is available from the market called 'Flashlight' by 'Notes'. this has got some additional features like strobe etc that i wasnt interested in.
