I have her book - I've not got very far into it as I've been too busy to read it  BUT so far there doesn't seem to be anything that I didn't already know, but then I've been collecting household management books and been involved in household management websites for years :rotfl: Mind you I am only on page 19 and on "Storage Solutions" :rotfl: Alot of what I've spotted on a quick flick through seems to be stuff you would find here in OS.
I'm planning on settling down and reading it over the next few days (I'll be needing the break from a project I'm doing!) so I'll let you know more by next week with the speed at which I read
Thanks Nicki, I will wait before buying it.
I don't have any household management books so maybe it will be better for me.
I was also thinking about the FlyLady book but thought Anthea's would be better as it is aimed at the UK not the US.Ageing is a privilege not everyone gets.

hi i have her book and for me it works pretty much like the program it gives me the incentive to get up and do something.it does have some useful info in there though and a lot is just commonsense but i enjoyed reading it all the same:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

I agree with you LJM.I too have just bought the book and some of it is just commonsense and for people who know a lot about house management it might be a bit repetitive. However as you said it works like the tv series mostily inspiring you and as a good insightful referance- kind of like a comforting blanket. The cheapest places to buy it are at amazon for £7.76 if you are spending more than £15 you get free postage.Or if you are just buying this book and dont need anything else the book depositary are very reliable and only £8.36 delivered in a few days.I love my book and i was never an anthea fan until she did perfect housewife !0

.....and is it any good? I asked my husband to get it for me for Christmas after enjoying the TV show and having read reviews on Amazon for the book.
I was just wondering if anyone here has it and have you learnt anything from it?I'm so sorry if you were enjoying this thread and mine is the last post!!
I seem to have a nasty habit of killing threads!0 -
There are quite a few reviews for it on Amazon

Hope that helps.0 -
I have the book. It's ok. Nothing amazing & certainly hasn't turned my house into the gleaming showhome, but then I have 4 children & not enough motivation. Its not bad for a read though & might be motivational to others. The tips are all good & practical enough so no problems there.
Hugs

I've got it and have used a few of the tips from there but it's more a motivational read. If he can get a good deal on it it'd be worth it.But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0

Hi
I borrowed it from the library and enjoyed reading it. It does motivate you and I did start clearing some clutter and then slipped back into my normal habits
I probably wouldn't buy it cos I dont think I'd read it very often. But then that could me just me!0 -
I have it and read it once, and have never referred to it again!
I also have Kim and Aggie's book though, which is just as good a read, but has a bit more substance to it, and I would tend to use it as a reference book on how to do bits and pieces.
Even though the Kim and Aggie TV show does irritate me a bit, of the two books that's the one which would get my vote.0 -
I've got the Anthea Turner one, the Kim and Aggie one, and quite a few besides, but the one I would recommend is Home Comforts which is here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Home-Comforts-Science-Keeping-House/dp/0304356247
(I've linked to the hardcover version from marketplace because it's cheaper than the new paperback, and it's a big book, the paperback would probably fall to pieces!)
It's like a home 'bible', tons of information on how to do everything, but it's very readable too, although the author doesn't have much of a sense of humour, it's very informative!
If I were looking to buy (or ask for Xmas) I'd visit the library or take a peek in the copies in bookshops before I made a decision. Taste in books is such a personal thing!0
