Pregnancy tests (I'm trying to be moneysaving here)

When I first tested, it took 5 minutes before anything came up and then the line was so faint, I stood on a chair and held it up to the bathroom light to make sure it was really there. I didn't know what to believe but my doctor said with pregnancy tests, a line's a line no matter how faint it is.
Tested again with the same type of test (ebay cheapie sticks at £1.95 for 10) 2 days later, and bam! the positive line came up before the control line. (now only 8 weeks off my due date btw)
Definitely sounds like you're pregnant to me. Sometimes its just hard to believe - in the end I did four tests altogether, and until I started showing I was tempted to keep doing them! lol.
I recommend you take it easy the next few days and then test again. But if it gives you peace of mind, blow the cash and get the flash test!
Congratulations btw!! Hope you have a very happy and healthy next 9 months x0 -
p.s. speaking as someone who is nearing the 3 year mark herself, it does one good to hear about these success stories
Funnily, this was the month I'd given up hope completely as we'd entered year number 4. We'd never got an answer about why we were suffering from infertility - had been scanned and counted - but because of my weight, couldn't get any further help until I hit BMI guidelines... I'd lost three stone, was nearing the size I was when I concieved originally (which was the only thought keeping me sane) and I'd given up - hence the 45 minute bawl-fest in the doctors the other week!
I'm guessing I bite the bullet and try to get booked in for the doctors - still sat here with my little sticks lined up checking those lines haven't run away from me like some kind of urine-obsessed sheepdog.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -

Get one of the clearblue tests just for the peace of mind but it definitely sounds like your pregnant to me!

Dunno what to do - tempted to go out and buy a fancy singing, dancing, digital test (for the flipping price of those I'd expect it gold plated and a performance of the Macarena while I pee), but am I just wasting a small fortune avoiding the doctors here?!
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Really hope it's a BFP hun, make sure you let us know ASAP:A0 -
I would go buy the preg/not preg HPT then you can actually read the words lol, i know its not very money saving - but very mind saving! Having been there, and 10 tests later the only thing that convinced me was the 'pregnant' word on the clear blue test, and for the cost of it it is worth it to get a decent nights sleep and peace of mind!
However, being level headed cause its not my pee and BFP we are taking about :rotfl:a line is a line no matter how faint!! please please let us know what happens0 -
The cheapy ones often test to 10IU whereas the more expensive ones (clear blue I'm looking at you) test at 25IU so you get earlier results with the cheapy ones - and it's a hormone you don't produce if not pregnant0

I would give it a couple of days before you get a digital test they arent as senitive as the cheapy ones but it deffinitley sounds like your pregnant Congratulations :-) x:jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0

Babies can be expensive (but they don't have to be!) so an extra tenner on a fancy test is a pennies if you want to know RIGHT NOW. But be aware that the battery or whatever on the Clearblue digital seems to run out after about 24 hours - I tried to show a friend and it had gone blank again!
Good luck!
Downsizing x0 -
Hi Dizziblonde, I wentb through this same situation just last week!
I had a Clearblue digital at home as well as a 10-pack of Ebay cheapies. I did the Clearblue digital test first. I was 12 days post ovulation, 1 day late for AF. The digital test gave me a BFP.
I used the same urine to use one of the cheapie tests and it came out negative. Same the next day, then 2 days later I got a BFP on the cheapie.
If I was you I'd defintely splash out on a digital test. Doctors aren't often interested in confirming pregnancies nowadays- and the cheapie test I used is actually the kind that the NHS uses so wouldn't necessarily pick up an early BFP. Best to take it easy and ride out the next few weeks before booking in with the midwife.
Sounds like congratulations are in order!!Yesterday is today's memories, tomorrow is today's dreams0
