I've got my electricity bills going back years. How can I best put this information into a spreadsheet to help me?

    Can anyone recommend a format?
Do not allow the risk of failure to stop you trying!

Why do you need a spreadsheet?

Simply put them in a table and make a graph.

I use a 7 column cash analysis book.
    Date...Remarks...Gas readings..Total electric ...Day rate...Economy 7...Water meter and B.T. (phone150).
Immediately above the readings are the units used for the week and below the entries are the percentage increase.
At the back of the book are month and year ending figures, gradually decreasing consumption since reading this forum, heavy insulation and re-training in routine.
Typical entry for these last set of readings are...
    ELECTRIC..Dec 02 4788 to Dec 03 6193...Used 1405kwh
    GAS..........Dec 02 2260 to Dec 03 2686...Used 426 cu.ft.
    (13466kwh)

Would someone with one of those power usage monitors be kind enough to post the typical usage of various items like fridge freezer, tv, pc etc. I know these are listed on some energy website but would very much like to see some real world figures.

Did mine a year ago , don't have the actual figures, but tv, fridge/freezer and computer/printer came out the same.

My last reading was 2nd July, just took one just now ... only used 258 units of leccy in 48 days which is pretty low considering there are 2 leccy showers a day, 2 PCs on constantly, TV, sky+, fridge/freezer etc, etc...

Clearly that was the summer, so can expect to double that over the colder months. It's easier to save leccy when you dont try.

I started a weekly electric and gas spreadsheet during last November. We had just changed from BG to Powergen. Talk about 'straight out of the frying pan into the fire'! Our bills increased sky high!

We have now changed to Ebico, and it will be interesting to see how charging goes.

I have a fairly sophisticated meter. However the consumption of various appliances varies according to the model and use.

My latest Desktop PC @ around 120-140 watts with a 19" tft, consumes twice the power of my last 5 year old PC. Laptop around 25 watts.

    Bosch W/machine 0.6-0.9kWh per cycle.

Large Bosch chest Freezer(in garage) 9kWh per week in summer - less in winter.

    TV's around 60 -100w when operating.

The standby consumption of all my appliances is very low - all TVs less than 1 watt. Cooker, microwave, etc etc minimal. The sky box is highest at around 14 watts. There is a great deal of uninformed or out of date nonsense talked about the 'huge' standby consumption in modern homes. If I left on standby 24/7 all my TV's, DVD, cooker, microwave, Sky box, W/machine, phone chargers, dishwasher, clocks, you name it, I estimate I would be using less than 30 watts; which would cost approx £20 a year. - less than 2 hours running of my 8 patio heaters, which I use to warm my compost pile;)

    Another weekly reader/spreedsheet saddo here.
I even bought myself an Electrisave monitor, so I can see what power I'm using instantaneously.

Hi I am thinking of getting one of these any tips on the best prices/deals?
    RRP £79
E-bay looks favourite at £66.90, but Im always willing to take advice !
    Cheers, Mark.

I got mine from Electrisave themselves using the code rws (Royal Welsh Show) which knocked £5 off the price, and there was no p+p charge.
Not sure if its still valid but you never know.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
