Annoyed with Vodaphone!!

For the first in prob 10years as a Vodaphone customer they have really hacked me off!!!

I got a new phone last June and it's been great, except that my contract has unlimited internet access and I just don't use it!! I thought I would, but I don't. So I thought I'd just change my contract.....like I've done several times in the past. Except that I can't!!! Apparently I'm on a "new type" of contract that means I can only add to it........ When I pointed out that my phone is hardly new the bloke blustered about a bit and just kept repeating himself........

Far from impressed with the excuse, and lack of explanation - even less impressed at having to pay for a service I'm not using.......

Is there anything I can do except wait until the contract expires???

If your tariff included unlimited internet, then I don't see the problem. It was a package you saw and was happy to pay the fixed monthly fee for the duration of the minimum term regardless of whether you planned on using the service or not. It was sold as a package and not as an add-on service to a standard tariff.

Vodafone might be able to remove it, but it won't affect your monthly payment, so I wouldn't see the point of the request.

    So whats the problem? :)

I just wanted to be able to change my contract, as I have in the past. I wasn't told I wouldn't be able to, or that I would have a "new type" (their words) of contract.........just annoyed by it all and the fact that the guy just repeated the same thing over and over until I said goodbye!

    Not great customer services imo.

Thanks for the (huge! :D) link, I'll have a read through.

I know it's a bit late but for next time - and with every Telco - do read the t&c as they do change periodically and know exactly what you are committing yourself to. I expect the CS person is technically correct and that you did commit to the "new" terms however inadvertently.

    It's a dog-eat-dog world out there.

Not much help, but please accept my sympathies :kisses3:

Personally I think the HTC Desire internet thread is being blown out of all proportion and people are not accepting the 500MB as being the limit, which is ridiculous. You would be silly to assume anything over would not be charged, and at your own risk. I should post this comment in that thread too :)

I wouldn't. They don't like anyone disagreeing with them on that thread.

    Edit - told you :(

You were right. Silly of me to think common sense would prevail. Its clear from that thread the OP is on a mission to get his contract cancelled so he can move over to T-mobile where the data limit is 3GB. Its also obvious that Vodafone have refused, hence why the threads dragged on longer than it needs to be.

To me its gone way beyond simply warning people of Vodafones 500MB limit and has turned into another..."How do I get out of this contract for free" because there's a better deal elsewhere.

I'm resisting responding to his comments as its clear who the thick one is for believing the words of a sales person and ignoring/not understanding the T&C & FUP when signing up.

Sorry to have to vent on this thread. :(

    Hijacking my moan!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

They are rather touchy over there lol.

I might try Vodaphone again over the weekend, I do find some people more helpful than others!! Plus I remembered some internal contacts that I have ;).

They do have a point about 500MB not being a very sensible allowance. But market forces should prevail and if enough people kick up a fuss about being charged for going over the limit by simply using the default functions of their phone, Vodafone will need to back down or face losing a lot of custom.
