NPower £200 cashback

I've just had a cold call at the door from NPower with regards to switching to them.
With the promise of £200 cashback for the first year, I obliged. My monthly debits with British Gas are £20 electricity and £36 gas, and these have reduced to £16 electricity and £25 gas with NPower, taking into account the cashback amount.
So is NPower any good? And would I save even more money by signing to an online tarriff. I've got 14 days to change my mind, but the £200 cashback is far more than British Gas.
Any one else had these calls recently?
the online tariff is cheaper...0 -
I have to say that npower have been great for me, no problems at all and by far the cheapest option for me, though don't forget that as with any company of this size problems will happen and whether you have a good or bad experience will come down to luck of the draw in who answers your call/email, I have no complaints about their email service as all queries have been dealt with timely and appropriately, but I'll chose to phone in future as the last two times I felt my problem was a little too hard to write down and found the service to be very good indeed.0

Actually with regards to the nPower £200 energy bonus advance it works in the following way.
It is indeed a discount and not at all "cashback". The customary Direct Debit discount of £100 is doubled in the customers first year of being with the company.
How the discount is applied is by knocking £200 off your estimated annual bill (pre-discount) and dividing the figure by 12 to give you your monthly amount.
This deal is only available to new customers and is only available to customers in their first year with the company and for whatever reason is not included on any price comparison website.
The rates on this deal are nPowers standard variable rates however due to the discounts and depending on useage, the energy bonus advance often works out more cost effective than online deals available with both nPower and other companies on the market.0 -
Your DD may well be going down, but is it still enough to cover your usage? You're paying the standard rate, minus a £200pa discount...how does that compare with your current supplier in terms of price per kWH (unit)?0
