The OP needs to find out what the stance is on her maternity pay and report back on here.

Working in certain civil service posts you certainly get full pay (from various sources) for 9 months, I was under the impression, through what I have read that the service personnel got the same. Full Pay for 9 months.

Not one Whitehall department has these terms. Where are you getting your information?

Excuse me I am serving aswell and dont appreciate being told I have to mental age of 16 because I am a serving soldier. I am sure myself and many of my worl colleagues have seen and dealt with things that you cant imagine in your nightmares. Ungrateful idiot.

Going slightly off topic... why do you say "ungrateful idiot" to another poster - he may or may not be an idiot BUT why does he owe you any gratitude?

From personal experience ... I've worked for 2 different civil service organisations that both offered the same thing.

When I first took maternity a few years ago I got full pay for 6 months, they have since extended it to 9. A couple of friends of mine recently in both the organisations I've worked for have had full pay for 9 months.

(I got paid as normal for all those months, the organisation I worked for recouped some of the money from various sources. I dont know where I just know I had the same pay packet. TOC and HR could clarify further.

that comment was on another thread - I replied and reported it!

To the OP - i have no idea on your circumstances, but didn't want to read and run! Hope admin and welfare can help you.

the one thing I can confirm is that you will be classed as single on the tax/working credits forms. I was when I fell pregnant, I was living in England and bf in Northern Ireland with the army - they just take into account any maintenance he pays. However if you have any joint finances this may alter that. WE weren't connected financially at the time.

Also I have neighbours with a little girl, he's in the air corp and she's raf and they have a great home life and she is expecting again and still has no intention of leaving the service yet.

As for the childcare vouchers through Sodexho - these will probably be pointless if you are claiming through tax credits as a single claim. You will prob get more benefits if you don't take them - they also impact on your pension. The nursery we have on our camp is discounted. It is about £10 a day cheaper than those off camp, but it very full and the list was very long. Get on it as soon as you can.

Most importantly congratulations to you and your partner and enjoy the experience as much as you can! :)
