Why would you make you child someting for their meal at home that they don't like??
i do
my ds and i love spag bol .. my dd doesn't like it but i still serve it to her , i am not going to make her a seperate meal!
we don't have it as often as we would if she did like it but why should me and my son only eat food SHE likes?
i cannot be doing with cooking seperate meals!
on the school dinner thing i was a bit annoyed today as my DD told me she had a cheese roll as she didn't like the lasagne
i pay for her dinners so and i think it would be cheaper to make a roll myself so i told her if she is not eating the dinners she will move to packed lunches .. she told me she will eat the dinners £608.98

A. Because perhaps everybody else like it.
B. To encourage them not to be fussy and eat what's served to them.
What else are you going to do if one of the children doesn't like something basic like cheese - are you never to serve a family meal with cheese in because of this?0 -

Nothing wrong with that so long as sometimes you and your son eat meals that you don't like but she does

My husband does not like onions
I'm veggie so it is a real trial for me

Lucky you to have one unfussy child - it's similar here (as well as fussy husband) which makes me suspect that upbringing only has a fraction of influence.

Free school meals and upset because precious Paris or Cindy or McKenzie or whatever else doesn't like cheese?
Boooohoooooo
Listen you Narrow minded ignorant BLEEP , my kids have decent names they are called Lauren and Ben. Until last year I earned £60k A YEAR which I think is a pretty decent salary for a self employed 33 year old female. Shut the  up making your stupid assumptions,.Here today, scone tommorow:p0 -
right, thansk for your imput everyone
For those of you who seemed to think the cheese pasta was the only issue, read my original post again. The issue is that my children are going without a proper meal as theres scarcely anything left by the time they are served. Free school meals or not that is not fair and certainly not what you would expect in a 1st world country.
I'm going to have a word with the school about it tomorrow, however, I've decided to take control of the situation and just give them packed lunches. At least then I know they'll be eating what they need to grow and prosper.
As for those of you who have made insulting comments - get a life! Here today, scone tommorow:p0 -
its not a thread about fussy eaters!!! its about the school running out of main options before all the children are served!
Thats disgraceful!!! every child should have a proper dinner and if the school isnt providing it then the parents should complain. LOUDLY!
It doesnt matter if its 'free' meals (by the way they arent free, the rest of us are paying for them and I for one want every child to have a good meal) ALL the children should be able to choose a good well balanced meal.
Another thing that disturbs me is that children are being 'forced' to eat meals they dislike! I have never ever forced any of my kids to eat something they dislike - if they have tasted it and dont like it then they leave it! The policy in my house is that meals are dished up and if you dont like something then you leave it on your plate! no recriminations (have vivid memories of my mum trying to force feed me fried onions and throwing up)!
and for some of you - I did sometimes have to do a separate meal for youngest son if the rest of us wanted a cheese dish or similar - as youngest son is dairy allergic! I figured that whipping one of his faves out of the freezer and warming that up meant the rest of us could eat something WE liked while he still had a nice meal that he enjoyed - it wasnt a problem!0 -

sometimes threads go off topic, hardly a crime is it?
and it would be a poor show if you were forcing your child to eat something they were allergic to.. not really the same
