ask the school if there is a grab a bag options instead of a free hot meal - our school does this as an option for free school meals if the child does not like what is on the menu for the day (we get a menu for 6 weeks at a time). The grab a bag consists of either an egg or cheese sarnie on brown bread, a piece of fruit, a juice and a pudding of either yoghurt, flapjack or the pudding from the main menu.olympic challenge starting 7/1/07:j0

Free school meals and upset because precious Paris or Cindy or McKenzie or whatever else doesn't like cheese?
Boooohoooooo
You are right, we should force children to eat whatever scraps are left regardless whether they like them or not:rotfl:
I really don't know why you bother replying if it is only to be offensive?0 -

Quite right too!0 -
            Mine wouldn't because:
a. It stinks (can't stand it when my OH eats it)
b. They are vegetarian
OP - go in tomorrow and make a formal complaint. That's no way to feed pupils. Someone has to step and and take the blame over this.
Fair enough if they're vegetarians ( I do agree there needs to be a vegetarian option available) but presumably the cheese pasta is the vegetarian option.0 -
I'd think that someone on free school meals has bigger things to consider than making their child eat like a vegetarian...0

Cheesy pasta or scampi are not scraps though, are they.
Stop the fussy eating; problem solved.0 -

Check with the school to see if they have a rota system - many do. They take it in turns to go first eg year 1 then year 2 etc. Alternatively, my other school used to keep a record of what each child had ordered and cook that only - any who had not filled it in got a jacket potato as a default. This worked as it was a small school - it wouldn't be feasible in a large school.0

I'm sure the taxpayer will be happy to pay extra for an additional meal choice so a child doesn't have to suffer human rights abuses by being forced to eat free cheese.0
