Oh I don't envy you, I'm not a morning person and have warned my youngest not to get up before 8 am. She doesn't believe anymore so its going to be civilised time this year :D
  • What?? Still wrapping present??? It's time to be opening them!!
I've got my parents and grandparents coming to sample my turkey. Now you'd think 'ah that's nice' wouldn't you? except i've never cooked turkey before.

I know I can't believe i'm wrapping presents this time in the morning, not many thank goodness just some last minute ones that were delivered. My turkey has just come out of the oven and smells lovely, it will waft around the house all night now...the smell that is and keep me awake. I'm sure your turkey will be lovely!

I spent the afternoon making one of Nigella's clementine cakes, DH and I tried it pulled a face and put it straight in the bin so its going to be dessert out of the freezer for us.

Its just the 4 of us tomorrow which is going to be odd as we always have family aroung xmas day, but we have a house full Boxing day so looking forward to that.
  • Sorry about the cake:o
This will be our last family christmas:(
My parents are moving to France now they have retired so i thought it would be good to have one last bash together. On a positive note, by next christmas i'll have another mouth to feed, My girlfriend's just announced this week that we're having a baby:T

Why cook your turkey so early???

Congratulation mav thats a lovely Christmas present :T You must both be so excited.

My parents have gone abroad on holiday thats how we are on our own this year, perhaps your parents will invite you over next year, Christmas in France sounds lovely.

Regarding the turkey newly married I got it out of the fridge Christmas morning to find it frozen, with family due for lunch ar 1pm, I spent the morning sat infront of the gas fire with it blasting it with a hair dryer since then I have cooked it the night before so its less stressful.
  • Thanks Zippy:beer:
We are both really excited and can't wait to be honest.
I've been defrosting my turkey since friday, but thanks for the hair dryer tip. Bet it took ages for your hubby to let you forget about that:rotfl:
How old are your children? When i was a kid i'd be up by five wanting to open presents

Its a wonder I didn't kill someone :rotfl: I couldn't tell them what happened as I knew they wouldn't eat it.

My DDs are 10 and 15 we will be lucky to get the eldeat one out of her bed by 1pm lol she has never got up early xmas day sometimes DH and I would be so excited we would end up waking her :D Little one is an early bird, think I did 6 am once, but never again, I was ready to go back to bed by lunch time. She doesn't believe this year, I managed to just about convince her last year, but this year she asked my DH and he told her  Just realised this is the first time we haven't put a carrot and glass of milk out for santa, think I will do it anyway just in case ;)
  • I always put a mince pie, carrot and a glass of milk out. Milk's better to settle his stomach after alcohol everywhere else. I think it's just a fun traditition to do at christmas.;)
Weirdly enough, the older i get, the more festive i seem to be. Not sure why that is??? Mind you, i got caught by some of my colleagues telling the children on the ward next door that i believed in fairytales so may be it's not so surprising:confused:
