I like it. I would so mutch like to go and scream at some or them to go forth and multiply but they would probably have a heart attack and the thought of the CPR and the paperwork does somewhat restrain me. Well ive got 50% of that covered because we've got onsite paramedics, but i understand the bit about the paper work, however i think id just push the slumped heap away from me and deny all knowledge, and if push really came to shove id say they must have just swooned at my feet so how can I be to blame for my stunning good looks, im sure that would raise a laugh with those in charge or those who work with meLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0

I question the fact that it would raise a laugh, ha! ha! or maybe not I've had a few pulled on me in my tie. i,e, the new member of staff who thought it was an initiation right fo face a realistic dummy on the bed with his dinner when in reality he was well dead, or the other member of staff trying to feed a client who was a lovely blue colour and could not understand why he wasn't hungry. Seen it all in my job.The best was the RGN who questioned that the guy I'd just sat with while he died was dead! She had the stethescope out and listened to his heart and could not find his heart beat. She kept saying he is still warm, he can't be dead! that one took five minutes to convince and even the when I was leaving the room she poked him in the head and asked "are you allright?" I tell you, you could not make it up.If you are patient in one moment of anger, you will escape 100 days of sorrow.......Chinese proverb

I tend to find a swift thumb in the eye is always a good test to see if someone is dead/un-concious etc, see that 1st aid course wasnt wasted on me!!
I think initation rights are the way forward, alas in our work the only thing the new boy/girl has to put up with is making the tea and trying to motivate the team to get out there and hassle passengers, and of course my least favourite is if there are any nasty strip searchs etc to do the new boy has to be involved, you can soon tell if someone is going to stay in the job from their reaction to their 1st search and the 1st time someone goes off the handle at them, but its all good fun really and apart from the shift work I wouldnt change it at allLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
Sounds like good fun, I hope I am never at the end of a strip search from a 'new boy' though that sounds as if it could be quite painful!!!!!
The job I'm in now means I'm on my own all night so I do not have a 'new' person to delegate to - unfortunately that means that anything and everything is my problem. I do, like you think that the way forward is initiation rights, why should us experienced people train them up softly, softly. Throw them in the deep end I say with a few surprises designed for maximum glee from others on the way.If you are patient in one moment of anger, you will escape 100 days of sorrow.......Chinese proverb

Well im here with my team, which is only small however im the yougest and newest person here, however im also the most forcefull, biggest and scariest so we share out the nasty jobs, but of course ive walked the path being a new boy so ive had my fare share.
its getting to that time when im struggling to keep awake and the only thing keeping me ticking over is bottles of coke, i remember recently reading an article which said that shift workers on average live 5 years less than a normal 9-5, its an odd balancing act i get well paid for doing shift work but the price is high, im always tired, and some people would say grumpy, i have no social life and my life seems to revolve around either being at work or sleeping, i need to find a nice rich woman to look after me, im sure thats not too much to ask for in lifeLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
morning. Me - can't sleep, I work nights and can't get the body back to normal time when I'm off. I like your signature - working on my own at the moment. If you are patient in one moment of anger, you will escape 100 days of sorrow.......Chinese proverb

Yep know all about the tired bit. God it sucks. My worst is between 4 and 6. Loads of black coffee + fresh air and still my eyes feel like matchsticks and are are so red that it looks like I have had a night on the tiles before I started. Sometimes I can't even focus on the reports I am supposed to be writing . I don't wish for anything different, just that we had more money and I did not have to work nights. If you are patient in one moment of anger, you will escape 100 days of sorrow.......Chinese proverb
