Been there done that self employed stuff and its right you are to scared financially to take your holidays.
I know I did it for 11 years and never took any time off in them years.
Thankfully I am still self employed but contracted so do get the full 4 weeks paid holiday now (or did off sick).

The thing with nursing is that we are constantly being asked to cut back on the staff budget. This means extra staff like myself who cover sickness or holidays are not getting booked and the wards are running short. Kind puts pressure on you to take all the work in case it stops.

It's called being self employed

Plus I'm one of those cool kids who only needs and gets 3-4 hours sleep a night HAPPILY. Less is manageable but only for a couple of weeks at a time lol
