Warning to ebay sellers

I have a full time job and would never get the time to list over 100 items a month.
I agree with ebay, there are so many people who are obviously a business listing 100's of items each month.
It's about time ebay cracked down on them, these people have been getting away with it for too long.My daughters are my world0 -
You could easily list 100 items in a day or two if you were on holidays. I'm not working at the minute so it was easy to get the things up with the weekend and bank holiday. Saying that everyone listing more than 100 items at 99p is not a fair way to sort the business sellers out is wrong. If they'd actually take a look at the people's items it would be obvious if they were a business or not.
Sorry! Im still cross about what happened last week.0 -

Any private seller listing in high volumes will be reviewed by Customer Support , and potentially required to upgrade to business status or be blocked from listing on ebay.co.uk and ebay.ie.
Wonder what they define as listing in high volumes ?
Google is my friend ..... :j0 -
Sadly it is always the same with Ebay, I used to be quite a big powerseller at one time, until they literally milked me dry between them and Paypal there was just no point doing it anymore, I was a bit gutted at first but I dont miss it at all now.
It is either do things there way or dont sell on the site at all, I had my own account manager and you could never get any sense from them, they have to abide by their own TOS which of course will change and evolve over time, I actually agree with this change there have been a lot of people for a long time making full time incomes on EBay whilst claiming all the benefits known to man, they had to stamp it out 1 way or another, the last thing they need is our government somehow stopping them from tradin in the UK.
They are a business at the end of the day and their own self preservation will always come first on the list of priorities quite rightly as well, I fell no anxst towards them I could no longer live with their TOS so made the decision to call it a day its th only thing you can do, I do still buy from there occassionally but now would rather give things away via freecycle than sell them on EBay."You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0 -
This was a move long overdue by eBay.
"Private" sellers (either deliberate tax dodgers, or genuine business sellers taking advantage of free listings) were abusing ths system far too much, so once again the actions of a few spoilt it for the many.
It was a mistake to introduce free listings in the first place, and there are a fair few people on here who will quite rightly be able to say "told you so" when so many others were heralding this as a great move by eBay.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
Cancel your account and set up a new private one. You won't get your money back from this load of items but at least you won't get caught again.

Easy to say but I have had my account since Jan 1999 and established a very high feedback with a unique username
No way am I going to give that up
After a bit of thought I'm going to stick with it as it is now. Just a shame about the free listing days
My son uses my account to buy and sell because he is too young to have his own. I dont know if ebay allow it but I was thinking of opening a second acccount so he could take advantage of promotionsVictoriajayne wrote: »Ebay did give prior notice of this over a month ago ....

To just block someone because they think they are running a business is a bit unfair. Not everyone keeps up with the community announcements.
It would be fairer to contact the seller beforehand by email or flashing up a notice which goes away after being read. We should have a chance to respond

I think ebay see it as an extra earner and take advantage of laws they throw at us.
I know for sure that selling private goods is not taxable
I asked inland revenue myself and they said I don't even have to mention personal goods sold on my tax return because they are not taxable so I think ebay is wrong in that respectIWasLookingBackToSeeIfSheWasLookinBackToSeeIfIWasLookinBackAtHer.....0
