unknow error on new laptop, can i get a refund?

I brought a laptop and is still within its 28 day money back guanatee. the laptop is not playing a game that i play all the time, the game does not require a softwear download therfore using the computer to work. millions of people play the game online and do not have the same problem as myself, therfore making me beleive this is a computer error. i took the computer back to the store this evening and they refused to offer a refund but said as a good will gesture they will offer a exchange. i tried to reason with the staff saying it couldnt be a softwear issus as it dont need it. they said they wanted to test the machine but coundnt get on the web to do that, so asked if they could take it away for testing, but i refused to needing it for work. how can they offer a exchange but not a refund within 28 days? is it within my right to get a refund so i can buy a computer from a different retailer. the retailer is currys! so therfore didnt expect such a dissapointing out come.

There argument. they say the computer is working therfore doing what it was sold for

my argument. no its not as it wont play a game online and thats what i brought it for.

there argument. it will be a softwear issue so they aint liable.

my argument. no its not the game is online and does not require a softwear download. meaning it uses the computer to work

there argument. it must be the site you need to speak to them.

my argument. no there is over 10 million people online everyday not having any problems. and the site isint showing any known issus

there argument. No you cant know that, we will take it and test it.

my argument. yes i can as i have spoken to people all over the world through the forum of the game and they all say its fine, and no because i need it for work. i cannot go a few days without it.

they say ok.... as a good will gesture we will exchange it for a item of same value.

i say there is not a compter here that i want. i will exchange for the same mondel. but they couldnt do that.

what i fail to get is, why cant they refund if they will exchange???

sorry for being so long.

many thanks

    What's the game?
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Depends what's causing the error - what error is it?

If it just one game its a software conflict and as such there right in saying that you have no comeback.

Wow I didn't know things had come along that much that you didn't need software view the internet now.

Plus if it is a game it will have required some sort of plugin most likely. Plugin = Software

sorry you i didnt explain myself correctly. i first thought it was a add on or a flash player error. so i uninstalled all the add ons and flash players and still the same problem.

its the games through facebook, everybody elses works, but mine. i thought maybe it was my connection but no its not.

iv installed all the explorors and still the same problem. asked the issuers if they have any know problems and no problems known.

my friend used his laptop on my connection and no problem.

why would just i be having this problem? all i was saying is there is something wrong and i aint even had it a month so didnt expect to this problems.

    thanks

It's a software fault no matter how you want to put it. You have no right to anything.

Your lucky they offered to exchange it for a different model You should have bit there hand off. You'd be better posting on the tech section/ Try https://www.Bit-tech.net forums for help.

Listen, there's not going to be a hardware reason for why your laptop can't play Facebook games but can do everything else. Trust me. You need to stop claiming you have a faulty laptop as your looking stupid to anyone who knows anything about computers.

This will be a software problem (i.e. something you have installed, or have not installed, some settings you have changed or not changed). Have you even installed Flash player yet? You need that to play Facebook games and that would explain why other computers on your internet connection can play those games. If it is not flash player (make sure you've got the latest version), it will be another software issue.

Why didn't you start off in the Techie section asking why you can't get facebook games to work instead of taking the computer back and arguing with them over a right to a refund which you do not have. You've shown yourself up big time really because taking a computer back claiming it's faulty because it can't play facebook games is a stupid thing to do.

OP, what is the error you are encountering? It's quite possible someone on here may know how to resolve it.
