Glad you agree with me on the first 2 points.

As far as the expenses are concerned apart from tax and nic are you trying saying that a quite a lot of expenditure is not incurred by successful leaders like the ones quoted.

Yes I am and I know this for a fact as i dont incur massive expenditure

Is that that not the case with most senior leaders in direct selling. But its not easily achievable by your average Joe as indicated.

Yes and as pointed out i think that a wealth warning should be in place as i place one in all my advertising.
I would like to think though that I am average Joe who just started out and built a biz up.

Its just my own opinion based on my own findings, i have nothing against either Company and believe in sales via brochure are achievable in all Companies, after all we are building a customer base successfully for the third time with 3 different Companies but the difference is i'm building it at my own pace that fits in with our lifestyle and commitments this time ;)

    Debbie

    Completely agree and thats fantastic!
I think everyone should do that... build and fit around their own lifestyle.

I saw this as a thread of betterware versus Kleeneze and given my personal experiences with the former which were nothing short of appalling / underhanded / threatening / abusive / devious and downright nasty then i am gonna go with Kleeneze.

It aint perfect BUT i have never had the leve lf abuse thrown at me as I got in betterware!

I did Kleeneze from Feb '09 - Feb '10 and eventually gave it up because I moved house and didn't want to have to start building up a new area again at the same time as trying to revise for my end of year exams at uni. I would recommend it to anybody who's serious about building a business, and would consider going back in the future.

I paid £134 to join and in my first 4 weeks earned £242.50 after expenses (not inc. the initial start-up cost). By the time I left, I worked between 12 - 15 hours a week and was earning between £800 and £900 (4 weekly) when I eventually quit. My expenses (national insurance, petrol, catalogues etc) came to about £100 a month on average, which still made my hourly rate more than £10 an hour.

You get 21% commission from anything you sell with Kleeneze but, unlike Betterware, there are also bonus' of up to an additional 24% available. (Note - the extra 24% is worked out using the actual price of the goods to kleeneze not the catalogue price if you know what I mean? Whereas the first 21% is 21% according to the catalogue price.)

If you sell more than £764 of goods in 4 weeks - very achievable (I did it in my first 4 weeks) then you get 10% bonus and usually some free catalogues and stuff as an incentive aswell.

There were some charges that my sponsor didn't tell me about, which you might be interested in knowing:

£7.50 a month for internet ordering (i'm quite sure you get 1 or 2 months free to start with). You can submit your orders by post/fax and there's no charge for this however delivery is more expensive as people who subscribe to internet ordering get free delivery if they order more than £250 worth of stuff (£150 during promos) and people who aren't subscribed pay for their deliveries.

£7.50 - Messaging service, completely optional but gives you a number you can give out to clients, possible new team members etc without having to give out your housephone number then you just collect your messages at your convenience. Also allows your upline to send you messages.

£15 per person for conference tickets (first conference free) - twice a year there's a conference at the NIA Birmingham and its completely optional but i've heard some sponsors can be quite pushy about attendance.

Fab review of Kleeneze, I would like to add, if you permit, the only reason behind being 'pushy about attendance' is that if you have more than 5 people in your group it can be quite difficult to coah them on every aspect of their business and hence BOMs, Inductions, rallys and company conferences being a point of training source and a good place to get guidance on how to move your business forward by asking those who are earning a full time icome part time.

I'm neither pro nor against Kleeneze but I would say I was considering starting it until I looked at the basic maths and realised it wasn't worth it.

First of all, a pack of 50 catalogues is currently £32 (or 64p each.) assume you buy 4 packs of these - that's £128 outlay immediately.

That gives you 200 homes to visit. Unless you have a car or a trolley (another initial expense although I don't remember how much), you won't be able to take all 200 out at once, so you then need to factor in the time it would take to do that.

If we are optimistic and assume that you get the £1 per catalogue order that Kleeneze suggest, that's £200 of orders. Of that figure, only 21% is your actual 'salary' so you're looking at £42 commission on an initial outlay of over £130.

Now if we assume that you get say 80% of the catalogues back, you need to replace those that are missing - and you can only buy in packs of 50 so that's another £32 outlay.

So for £42 commission we've already spent £128 + £32 + £30? (assumed price of trolley) or a total of £190. This is before we factor in the time it takes to deliver, collect and subsequently pack the catalogues and deliveries and also before taking the Internet ordering and messaging services into account at £15 each per month. So we've now spent £220 for £42 return.

Also the pro Kleeneze people consistently say they received '£xxx of sales/orders.' this is all well and good but sales and profit are not the same thing. Furthermore if you are making sales of £1345 a week or more, that puts you over the VAT threshold (VAT is chargeable on sales, not profit.) You also need to factor in income tax and national insurance costs.

Overall I couldn't see how this was ever going to be profitable.

Good to see the Farepak Hamper Savers getting a payout from the bank. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/bank-gives-away-8m-to-exfarepak-hamper-customers-7920336.html

    Farepak were associated with Kleeneze.
  • Just to add my opinion, I grew up with my parents doing Kleeneze. They put everything into it to start with, had a team and earned a decent amount, went on holidays and to conferences. Over the years it got tougher and now things are a struggle. I personally would never do it (or anything like it) but hey ho!

Would you pay £163 to join Kleeneze ? and deliver Catalogues etc etc etc.

New starters are able to pay for their Business Builder 200 Kit in three
instalments - first payment of £99.when they register and then two further payments of £32.00 in 4 weeks and again at 8 weeks, from their date of registration. Total amount payable £163.00.
