i'm a labour voter but strongly support electoral reform. at least labour have previously come out in support of it in principle. it's not great they haven't prioritised it. but maybe this is now the right time to do so.

I agree it is great and not at all founded in self-interest despite the current system that worked massively in their favour the previous 3 elections now working against them.

No more undemocratic than a minority Tory government elected by only 36% of voters.

And there was me thinking 36 was a bigger number than 29.

Can't wait for this all to be over and the paid spinsters go home and we can have the forum back for people who are willing to debate the issues and have their minds changed rather than the party line parrot squad.

i think it's more a case of it only becoming a priority in a hung parliament situation that has highlighted the major flaws in our electoral system in a way that hasn't occurred living memory of many.

No they haven't. Labour promised electoral reform to the Lib Dems in 1997, then withdrew their support when they won a landslide victory. Funnily enough, Labour started indicating they might support electoral reform a few months before the last election when they realised they couldn't win another majority.

It's nothing to do with 'principle', that's laughable, it's the opposite - political expediency.

But 23.6% voted Lib Dem, and this plus 29% equals 52.6%. A clear majority of votes.

I think you need to wake up. Labour lost, and no amount of "I agree with Nick" will get them out of the lies they carry on spouting.
