- [STRIKE]Watch Dr Who[/STRIKE] Very confusing...

- Find a better way of getting TV reception in livingroom than my indoor aerial wobbily perched on box on top of my other TV (meaning I can't use the portable TV elsewhere)! :rotfl:
- Buy (or borrow if they're out of stock) a digibox for portable TV and work out if another indoors aerial will work with this in my bedroom or if I should just give in and raid the piggybank and get a proper roof one fitted!
- [STRIKE]Work out which transmitter I'm getting digital TV via so I know whether final digital switchover part 1 starts on the 1st or 8th. (2 cover my area and aerials in my area point at either randomly!)[/STRIKE] Apparently the 1st!
- [STRIKE]Work out how to retune TV(s) for digital switchover!

Wow big list, my favorite is the last one though
Seems weird someone talking about digital switchover, seems so long ago since I lived in the first area to get done
I think your portable will be ok with a digi box but I would get a proper aerial and runs cable into all the rooms you might want a TV in

Hope all works out for you

Oh dear on the cous cous disaster!! :rotfl:
At least you have a storecupboard list now! I find going shopping knowing what I already have in and planning meals around that can be a great way of cutting shopping bills! - I have had a few cupboard sort outs which have helped!
Good luck on the sorting and decluttering- music and a cuppa (or glass of wine if its that time of day!) I find always help!0 -
GG - It is fab! I use a bengali spice mix (from an asian supermarket) and just add some ginger / ginger powder and garam masala and a tiny bit of chilli flakes. Nom nom nom... Doesn't take long to prep/cook either so long as the butternut squash doesn't defeat me... I think I need sharper knives! :rotfl:
TYO - yep - spilt cous cous doesn't half fly far! Cheesy music definitely helps me clean / sort / declutter... not sure my neighbours are so keen though!
I'm sitting trying to decide when to take the rest of my holidays as I've still got another 12.5 days to take before the end of July. I've got Friday off but I need to decide on the rest... choices, choices! :undecidedMortgage free as of 12/08/20!

Hi taka,
Looks like you are doing some great prep and have some options for work that we can keep our fingers crossed over.
I can empathise on the job front as I got made redundant at the start of the year and have just started a new permanent role. I think we all benefit hugely from the tips we've aquired here, as you say, to amek every penny count, but also the support. The MFWs and my old friends on DFW really helped me by supporting me through the anxiety. Also, being here means we have an emergency fund, and if this is that emergency, well that is what we saved it for.
My emergency fund's existance certainly helped me sleep at night as I went through the job hunting. Knowing we can pay the mortgage is worth so much.
Best wishes to you and slowly fading on your job searching.Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.0 -
*Tip toes back in*
:hello::hello::hello::hello:
I'm back! (Again!) What a [STRIKE]rubbish[/STRIKE] "interesting" few months...
To summarise...
I applied for lots of jobs, lots of which I didn't get interviews for.
I went for several unsucessful interviews.
I was made redundant at the end of July.
I gained about a stone in weight.
Had interview at my old work (the day after I was made redundant!!)... Burst into tears lots going back there - especially finding out my old desk had already been taken (one of my friends returning to this country but still!). Interview was very odd and I was close to tears for most of it.
but..........
wait for it..........
bit longer........
Got offered the job 4 days later after they had interviewed the last candidate.

So I start at the beginning of September! :j Its a different project and new boss so I'll have a lot to learn but it sounds interesting!
The downside is going down a grade (which will screw up my pension as its a different (and worse) scheme for that grade) and a sizeable paycut.Ho hum... It's annoying but it's enough to pay bills and live on and leave enough to have a wee bit left over!
That wee bit will be split between my skating, a holiday fund and overpaying. Nothing will be left to save... Gulp...
Right... time for lunch...Post part 2 to follow...
