I bought the silvercross 3D, managed to get it on offer for 250 so it seemed like a good deal! Most of the reviews state that their child doesnt last long in the cot style setup and they soon have to convert it to the forward facing pushchair but im looking forward to that - i want my kid to have enrichment from his surroundings rather than looking at my gut whilst being pushed around!

I like the way the handles extend, its also easy to fold but it is quite heavy so lifting in the boot could be a problem for some. It does go quite compact which is good :)

A couple of years ago, I was part of a group of pregnant mums spending ages looking at prams & pushchairs. I seem to remember Bebecars (you needed to carry a pump around!!!) and Gracos being the fashionable choices in 2001.

We all started with the latest all singing, all dancing models and within 18 months most of us had downgraded to small and compact Maclareans. Great little buggies and reasonably priced. No complicated mechanisms, didn't need a weightlifting course to get it in the car, and it fitted without having to remove everything from the boot, or take a wheel off (my friend had to do this to get her Bebecar in her boot).

By the time second babies came along, most of us couldn't face getting the 'beasts' out again and sold them on and bought Maclareans suitable for new borns.

Anyway, not sure that helps but what I'm saying is big with loads of twiddly bits, is not necessarily best. Just realised, you never see a Bebecar anymore and everyone had one about 8 years ago.

I had a Graco beast ( early travel system i think) for DD1 and it was horrible :o Then got her a Maclaren stroller (lived in upstairs flat and couldn't get the graco up on my own) which whilst it was great from a weight point of view, it was too short so I was bent almost double pushing it and it wasn't easy to steer.

twins had a maclaren twin techno from birth (there wasn't a lot of choice of twin buggies then) although i wanted a 3 wheeler ex said no. I found the maclaren quite unwieldy TBH because you had to hold the outside handles to push it otherwise it went in circles. I've also found with umbrella fold buggies that the folding components at the front tend to 'give' first meaning the buggy might be trying to fold on one side when you're trying to push it.

Several cheap umbrella fold twin strollers and three years later I moved into my house and bought a second hand early Urban Detour and it was a life saver for me as by this point the twins were very heavy to push, but due to their issues not able to walk safely. It was huge, no denying that but it was so nice to be able to push something that didn't leave the children with their teeth rattling, try to fold in mid-use or go round in circles :T It meant I could push the twins and hold DD1's hand.

Fast forward to now and here I am doing it all again :rotfl: I've bought a jane slalom pro from ebay, I was going to get an Out and About Nipper 360 but OH really wanted one you could put the car seat in so it had to be the jane. TBH I hadn't thought about that becuase i've always waked/bussed everywhere in the past. I don't mind this because I've been able to get the carrycot too (all from ebay :money:) Plus the car seat lies flat too so if he does want to take little monster out with just the frame and car seat she can lie down flat.

To me the Quinny defeats the point of 3 wheelers, because it just looks awkward, I've seen a fair few drop down the gap getting off buses etc, they're just there to look pretty and as another poster said, they don't look like you could push them on grass.

I had a Babystyle 3 in 1 for my first and loved it. It had a big carrycot, my DD could still sleep in it at 8 months and she was a big baby. The pushchair attachment could face both ways. Air filled tyres so very easy to push but rarely had a puncture. Great if you do a lot of walking, I don't drive so it really suited me. We only took it in the car when DH was at home. Got a Maclaren when she was nearly one, but only used it occasionally, easy to put in the car, good for holidays but not so nice to push.

Then we got a Jane Powertwin when DD2 was born and it's been great.
  • Buy a Stokke Xplory and you will never want for another buggy again.

Whilst all those around me are changing or downgrading to smaller pushchairs I would never consider anything other than my beloved Stokke. It has grown with my 16m old so far and will continue to grow until he no longer needs a buggy. Then I will sell it on for a good price on ebay and let someone else have the opportunity to love it as much as I have.
