I'm so pleased for you - we love our Beagle and will be letting the rescue know tomorrow that we'd like to keep her after our 2 week trial - all the advice so far about Beagles is spot on, but we wouldn't be without her now! And yes, I agree about 'the look' if you are telling them off - pitiful!

Enjoy your beagle - you will have loads of fun with him!
    :j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

By the way, Many Tears Rescue has 3 or 4 young beagles in.

Sagaris - so glad it's all going well - is it all up to you now, or do her old owners also have a decision to make?

I've seen those 2 beagles fc - I want them ha ha!!!! Lady could be our dog's twin!

I've asked the rescue what we do next - as far as I know she's been signed over to the rescue that 'matched' us, so to speak, we've met her previous owners and they preferred us over another couple that was interested in rehoming her - so I'm hoping to hear something soon.

Fingers crossed - think I'll get on to them again now - watch this space!

I can't understand how anyone could want a beagle after they've already owned one. Ours is 11 years old and very well trained (for a beagle) she walks to heel, recalls well and has even been placed at agility in her younger days. However the desperation for food means she can be a right pain and forget being 5 minutes late with her food because the whole neighbourhood will know if you are! If the children leave a food cupboard door open then the contents are gone in a flash, I have 4 other dogs who could walk past and ignore that open door but not the beagle.

OK did I put you off? No? Well good luck.;)

Yeah I know this one's got food issues all right. You'll see for yourself tomorrow, OH has rearranged things (again) and the dog's coming over for his visit to ours late Saturday morning. He & the charity folks will be here until about 4-ish. So a nice chance to "get to know you" kinda thing ... hope all goes well.

So I'll post a photo or two here tomorrow. By all accounts he's a bit podgy ... so don't laugh at him ! I'll be most upset ! We'll be working on that weight issue, obviously, if the re-homing goes to plan.

OH's scrubbing the house down from top to bottom, not that it needs it. You'd think the Queen was coming !

  • Good luck tcr - don't worry about us giving the poor little dog 'body confidence' issues - I am sure everyone will be diplomatic!!:D
