£450 for one night?
You still have not told us which airport!Gone ... or have I?0 -
OP is in Gran Canaria https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2414645
We got stuck in Tenerife for 8 extra days in a hotel and spent around 30 euros for an evening meal and 20 for lunch at the most for 2 adults and a 4 yr old. Our accomodation was 495 for 7 nights (we got kicked out of the initial accomodation which was an apartment). Your costs sound way out if you have only been stuck for 1 day!
The regs say that they will pay for hotel accomodation (I would move somewhere cheaper if possible) and food and drink and transfer to airport. There are times when parenthood seems nothing but feeding the mouth that bites you Peter De VriesDebt free by 40 (27/11/2016)0 -
we were delayed in spain last time the ash disrupted the flights and we had checked in for the return flight before we left the UK. We were able to change our return flight (as the original one had been cancelled) no problem by clicking the link on the email ryanair sent us. appreciate this could be a real problem if you can't access your emails abroad and probably too late to be any use to you but might be of interest to anyone else in the same predicament good luck.0

you will get expenses paid by ryanair just dont go mad, its a good job you arent flying with KLM you would have got nothing, they are the only airline not paying out for any of the ash clouds.0

In that case there is an additional flight tomorrow morning. You cannot book it online, but a few hours ago there was still availability on it. OP, it would be worth calling Ryanair to see if you can get on this flight?Gone ... or have I?0 -
We got stuck in spain for a week. there were 5 of us, so made the decision to check out of our hotel & in to a mobile home. we ate as cheap as possible, and the most expensive meal all week was 25 euros in burger king. To be honest, by the time we had done, we would have been better off booking a cheap hotel through travel republic with meals.I found a hotel at the time for just over £500 for the week all inclusive, for all of us.
That is just an example, but it is still early season, and if you go online , there are loads of cheap hotel deals to be found.0 -
We flew home from Gran Canaria yesterday with jet2. Flight was originally going to be 45 minutes late, then when we had boarded the pilot was explaining the reason for the delay was because they had to re-rouTe on the way down to avoid the ash cloud and that the return journey would also have to re-routed flying over Ibiza rather than going directly over Spain. He then said that he had just been told that we were unable to take for another hour so we had to sit on the plane for a further hour, but eventually we arrived back 1 hour 45 minutes later than we were due, so all in all I just feel lucky that we arrived back safely.never chew the umbilical cord!!0

No one helped us at our resort and all Thompson and Thomas cook reps said " that's Ryan air for you all our flights are fine" cheers!!
We went to thexairport first thing and got re routed to Birmingham for this thursdaybut they couldn't tell us if we will get anything back for food drinks and hotel , I have read thexwebsite several times but it contradicts itself on a few things including no compensation if weather or air traffic problems that are out of their hands.
Last night we atedinner at the restaurant herder shared a meal as it's so expensive so far we have spent £450 including £40 taxi to and from airport. This is all going on my creditt card which is emergency only as it's high apr.

So long as you accept a re-routed flight from Ryanair rather than a refund you are entitled to be reimbursed for reasonable meals/accommodation and airport transfer costs.
Submit your claim to the airline with copies of your receipts on your return.0
