tbh the crossed postal orders dont bother me to much as at the end of the day i can understand from their point of view why they have done it and at least i know they have actually read the auction by sending it! lol
had 29 payments in the past 2 days, 1 bank transfer, 2 paypal, 1 crossed postal order and 25 cheques! Infact i even went back and double checked all my auctions to make sure i hadnt put cheques on there i didnt think i had and i was right.
Huge bright red writing in future for it i think though somehow i dont think it will make much difference lolThe Only Thing Men Can Do Right Is Get Everything Wrong

Why not get the crossed PO checked at the PO... as long as it's genuine it can't bounce, surely? It's been paid for up front. My TV is broken!

but a majority of cheques are genuine until they don't clear!! When I paid the postal order into the bank, they said that it could still be stopped by the sender claiming it not to have been received - whilst it is in the clearing process, it is in limbo, ie could be lost in the post, could be sitting in your wallet, could be dropped in the street etc, so even a genuine postal order can be stopped if the sender wanted to (unlikely but it can still be done). I wouldn't send them out until it has cleared tbh.0

How could they justify stopping it if it's crossed?
'The wrong person has it' - well, no problem, because it's crossed
'Lost in the post' - well, they know the date it was bought, so they can see that's unlikelyMy TV is broken!

I'm advising as I was advised by the bank - that it can be stopped - thats all! (and when I queried about the worry of it not clearing on MSE last month - everyone advised me to wait until it had cleared before sending the goods out)0

I'm not picking on you, I just think it's a stupid system

Crossing your PO supposedly makes it secure... if it's not, what's the point? My TV is broken!

fay you are are right, i have questioned it in both my bank and 2 post offices (1 of them is useless) the bank seemed clueless as to why they now have to wait to clear infact half of the staff are not even aware that they do (the ones i recieved yesterday i paid in this morning and they were put through as cleared funds).

My local post office werent much help at all and he just muttered something under his breath
I then asked in the main post office in town and the woman told me that the ONLY way that a crossed postal order will be stopped is if its fraudulent, and that if i ever wanted clarification of them being genuine to pop in and ask for them to check them before paying them into the bank.
