I like the black ones katsu

..........sent a text to OH, remember that he knows there are some tiles already half hanging off....

"do you have any tile adhesive you can bring round before you go out"

He called me "why do you need adhesive?" Me " I would have thought asking for 'tile adhesive' would have been pretty obvious"........arggh.. he's then just talked over me for 5 minutes telling me it isn't worth sticking it back on and I should be saving for a new bathroom (my reply - that really isn't the issue for today, is it) and I should take all the half knackered ones off. I told him that would look even worse (there's blue paint under them and above the tiles is peach - eek!) and the reply is just to take them off which translates as - I'm going to drink beer and no way am I helping out with anything in the next hour.

    Sigh..........oh, and

'I have a lift to watch the football so that's good'
me ' good in what way?' (knowing the answer)
'you don't have to give me a lift'
'you haven't asked for a lift'
'yeah, but I kind of presumed'
    'yeah, you did.........'
I don't have anything to stick them on with, which is why I asked him. He has every kind of building 'stuff' going because of his work and him building his extension/fitting the bathroom and kitchen himself and when I pressed him he said he does have some grout and some adhesive but 'it wasn't worth doing' ie 'I'm going out and I have no intention of doing it'. I didn't want his help, just the stuff to do it with. I've take the 4 worst tiles off which now looks even bloody worse.

So he "kind of presumed" you'd do him a favour, but is adamant that he won't be doing you one in return? Even the supply of materials?

    Yep...

You need to stick the tiles back on, to keep the water out. You may get away with "water proofing" the holes with clingfilm and tape - but that'll not last long.

I almost said on here I would get a text in return saying 'what do you want adhesive for'....

too late, there's been shower water going behind them for months. My parents really aren't the kind to get huffy about a carpy bathroom, but a black stained ceiling, hanging off tiles and 'grout on the wall where the tiles used to be' look aren't really great.

I've opened a bag of munchies because I'm at the  meets :wall: stage and I still have the washing up to do and the kitchen floor to mop. They were for the flight tomorrow but they are easing the pain rather nicely.

    Bun................you're weird............:rotfl:

Have you guys read the it's all gone horribly wrong thread? Really good news, looks like DIY SOS are going to mend the poor chap's house. Must be terribly scarey to end up in that kind of situation and I hope the builder gets his just desserts sometime.
