Do you need a buggy footmuff when they're a toddler?

Hi I have the Silver Cross POP in pistachio (an old colour for the POP I think) and love it. It didn't come with a foot muff or drink holder. I don't think I would have used a cup holder but I thought you could buy them seperate rom Silvercross - if not e-mail them about it because I have e-mailed them about replacement parts for our car seat and you can buy bits seperate.
I have the Silver Cross linear freeway in the same colour we got the POP so I used the footmuff from that to match but I didn't find I used it very much once he was over a year old. I use a blanket now if I need to.Skinty, have you tried the little one in the pop buggy?
Only asking because the seat is very shallow ~ even a sales assistant in Mothercare told me about it because a lot of people buy without trying the baby in it and find the seat/bum part too small as the baby gets bigger.
If you do get one though, you can pick up any universal footmuff x
My ds is a very tall 2.5yrs old - he is 1m tall and weighs 16kg - I have never found the POP to be shallow. He fits in it fine now. His feet can touch the wheels if he is playing about and makes himself slide down but he can't touch the floor or anything. If anything I think the seat size makes it recline nicely - he has never had a problem having a nap in it and will still fall asleep in it ok.

It depends on what you want, skintchick. The generic snugglies that you slip on are comfortable, warm and inexpensive. And they wash well.
If having everything matching is important to you, you may find that you'd rather buy one with colour coordinating stuff, but it's worth looking at the alternatives before you decide.
I don't know anything about cup holders? Is it for you or the baby? What's the purpose? If it's infront of her, won't she just lift it up and throw it on the ground? If she's drinking, she won't need a cup holder. I used to put the sippy cup in my bag or in the pushchair net.
You can buy pushchair straps that have poppers - they can be attached to a toy or the handle of a cup and clipped onto the side of the pushchair, so things don't get thrown away.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
Have never used these at any age, we have little blankets. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0

Silver Cross Pop sell a plain black buggy snuggle on their website, so hopefully will coordinate with your colour choice, even it is doesn't match?0

You make one quite easily. Just buy a coordinating fleece, sew like a bag and cut your slots for the straps. If you don't sew, scour on ebay, there are some great bargains for footmuffs.
I wouldn't be without mine. Gives me peace of mind knowing that my baby is nice and snugly.
Also, you can check online and get a generic type cup holder that works like the one that comes with the Sport model. I think it's a great convenience item, we juggle enough gear and such with our kiddos it's nice to know you can always have a drink close at hand without having to tear everything out of the diaper bag or the basket.0 -

I'm going to try it when it arrives. It's an online exclusive from Mothercare which means they will take it back free so we can try it at home, but DD is little (9th centile) so probably would be OK.
Have decided to get a universal footmuff - shouldn;t be too hard to find a nice colour that goes with blue, probably go for a brown one.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

I always had footmuffs on mine. It depends if you are and about alot, as I always think little ones get cold, as they are just sitting there and feel the cold more.
One thing I do HATE, is when you see little ones obviously cold in a pushchair.
It makes my blood boil that some mums don't wrap their kids up warm in cold weather.
I heard a conversations a few weeks ago in the supermarket. 2 women were talking about a baby they had seen with blue hands , but the mum didn't notice (or care)0 -

DS3 hated having gloves on: he would pull them off, get cold hands, and then cry because his hands were cold. I had to get some I could tie on, and then I was worried I'd tie them so tight I'd cut off the blood supply. And he'd cry because I'd tied them on and he wanted them off. What's a mum to do?
I had the same problem with DS2 and socks, couldn't keep socks on him to save my life. But I solved THAT one by putting him in tights under his trousers. :rotfl:Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
i had one with my first but she was such a tiny baby (same as my second also) that she didnt fit it so i sold it and used fleece blankets they were easier to wrap around them. though i do like the idea of them as i think they are very cosy and snuggly as apposed to my blankets they kept coming loose falling and getting trapped under wheels of buggys lol:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

Devon in July? You shouldn't need a foot muff, but a little blanket maybe even with velcro straps round the corners would come in handy to attach it to the buggy (and anywhere else she would like to make a den). Make sure you can get raincovers for it, that way if it rains or gets windy you can use the raincover as a bit of shelter for her.
She might well be walking in July, so might want to get in and out of the buggy, using a footmuff would be cumbersome. Keep it simple, imho.
p.s. if it's a holiday buggy get a light colour, if it's sitting in the sun and it's dark it will soak up the heat and be nasty to be sitting in.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
