I hope the sanctimonious ones on here do there full early morning parade before they drive their own car.
Methinks not!0 -
No, but if someone TOLD me there was something wrong with my brakes, I'd get it fixed before driving again. And I'm not sanctimonious, just wondering why anyone wouldn't.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0

Maybe because people can think for themselves, and are prepared to accept responsibility for their actions.
Like others have said, lighten up!0 -

31 years in the job, 22 years on traffic, attended a few hundred fatals and many thousand vehicle exams, so nah, don't think so!
And to lighten up, I think you and your friends miss the point and really do not understand the mechanics of a vehicle and how a leak can becomes a flat inactive brake pedal or the least a spongy brake with air in the system with significant reduction in braking efficiency, but then as you are highly unlikely to drive, may only happen on the highly unlikely bit, love the justification, you will fit in well with this board.0 -
My back brake line failed last weekend. Quite spectacular, no warning, it just dumped all the brake fluid on the road. The car still stopped, but after two or three presses the pedal was on the floor, and the brakes were useless.0

Of course they can. That's fine when they're only risking injuring themselves, but when others might be hurt, it's a different matter.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0 -
Doesn't sound a bad price if includes everything. I would personally replace both handbrake cables as the other side is likely to be quite stretched and possibly more prone to snap, but all that it needs to pass the MOT is the one side.
The other thing I would do is either use an original steel pipe from a dealers or have the pipe made up out of cunifer. Most garages will just use copper pipe as it's cheap and easy to work with, but it's also more fragile and prone to corrosion and I believe copper brake pipes are illegal in other countries, but legal here for some reason.
Didn't think you could still buy pure copper pipe, even the stuff sold as copper is 90/10 normally.0 -

Steels around £185 a ton, coppers around £3600 a ton.
Is cunifer not around 88.7% copper too?0
