Lib Dems & Tories... Can they work together?

How does PR work in Germany, where they are a bit less 'mediterrean' in temperament ?."An arrogant and self-righteous Guardian reading tvv@t".
!!!!!! is all that about?0 -

Interestingly for me I have had a little deeper insight to Germany over the last year as a family member has been there as a political commentator. From their admittedly very boased writings I think it maybe doesn't work as well as people say. I think it probably works as well as our system, other systems... in that its what is normalised.0 -
I can't see the tories giving the lib dems any concessions.
I think PR wouldn't be a bad thing. I don't believe the tories would go for it. I think labour might.
Lib dems have shown a willingness to exercise some flexibility. Will anyone else? It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
It looks like some Tories who have been keeping quiet during their campaign are now saying they aren't happy with how their campaign was handled and no way will they ever agree with PR.0

I follow the Lib democrats on facebook and the comments to the idea the LD going into coalition with the Tories is encouraging a LOT of angry comments.

I don't think he's saying that. What he is saying is that he couldn't support a minority party that has been deserted by vast numbers of voters and has clearly lost it's mandate to govern.0 -
the problem is that if Lib dems DONT secure PR now, then it will be cast out for a generation- they know that, we know that.
The problem is that the LibDems didn't win as many seats as the polls suggested precisely because they support PR. If you seriously liked LibDem policies or thought that now was the opportunity to give them a chance, you couldn't do so without risking them sweeping in PR and being in control for a very, very long time. "A vote for LibDem is a vote for PR" - well the people voted against the LibDems and against PR; the sooner the LibDems understand this the sooner they can start fighting elections on their policies and possibly gaining seats.
While they stick their necks out for PR, asking for your support is like asking you to support the LibDems for a lifetime. A vote for the LibDems is a vote for PR, is a vote for LibDem control for generations.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. This is the problem. The parliamentary LD party could do it, but would really struggle to take their members with them.0 -

One thing we have to remember is that we are English and think differently to the Germans.0 -
