Regardless of the discussions between Dave and Nick, any formal coalition would have to be passed by the LibDems and their triple lock. Which it won't.

So a Tory LibDem coalition is a non-starter. Clegg is having discussions as he said he would. But they won't reach a result because like John Stonehouse in 1974 Clegg cannot deliver a coalition with the Tories past his party.

well let's see what happens. let clegg show his true colours. someone who cares about policies or someone who cares about power for the sake of power.

steel refused to get into bed with ted in 1974. will we now see the big clegg con(servative) revealed?

i'm just really really glad i didn't vote lib dem. think i would feel sick now.

You have to understand political reality. Clegg said that the party that has the most votes has the first chance to talk to him. And he is delivering on that - he said earlier that it was up to the Tories to show that they could rule in the national interest. That means a deal which they're not offering. Clegg is talking to see if PR will be offered and its not.

Labour and the Tories could form a pact? Yes they could - on paper. In reality neither leader could make it stick so like Tory LibDem its a non-starter.

Out of those 22 comments, none of them mentioning the lib dems moving in with another party, want the lib dems to move in with labour...all prefering a tory/lib coalitian.

I know it's hardly a great sample, but interesting to see some views off this forum.

Yet Labour can offer them what?? seeing as Labour need the lib dems AND other parties

Tories need the Lib dems OR other parties

Tories can offer the Lib dems far more than Labour can.

Oh, c'mon ninky. It does you credit as a Labour voter to empathise with folks who didn't vote the same way.

But worrying about a fictitious nausea amongst those voters is an anxiety you shouldn't burden yourself with. Honestly, we're fine. And not feeling anything like as sick as we were before May 6th. ;)

Can they offer PR? Thats what they need to get the LibDems on board. Again, we're back to whats politically possible.

I don't think the LibDems will form a coalition with either side.

Try reading the lib dem facebook page.......

Clegg will have a full blown mutiny on his hands if he does a deal with the Tories...
