6 months half price ntl tv package - existing customers only!

  • I had the family pack and called NTL.
They asked where I had seen the offer, and seemed (unconvincingly) not to know about the offer at first, but when I said it was on the ntlworld website, checked and said fine. Half price for 6 months saving £9.75 per month.
As a small additional saving, use the 0800 183 5555 freephone number, and follow the prompts to avoid the 0845 costs.

Thanks for all the messages about cutting bills with NTL, it gave me the courage to phone them (as I'm an existing cus).

I managed to get the digital TV base pack, Talk 24 and upgrade broadband to 4meg all for £29.24 a month, fixed for 12 months!
  • Just rung Ntl, we already have the family pack, explained we had been with NTL for years and years and would like to take advantage of the offer. Lady said "No problem will do it for you straight away". Am SO pleased. Yippeee.:Thank you for a great tip and also surprisingly thanks to NTL.!:j

    Forgot all about this.

Just rang to request the half price offer, although i have had the family pack from the start (aug 2000).

Girl was fine, no problems, said she would switch it there and then.

Thanks to the OP for this - saving of £58.50 - kerching!!

I contacted Telewest yesterday and managed to get £13/month off my 2MB broadband service for 6 months. Thus, I will now be paying £4.99/month.

Unfortunately, they could not do anything about the Supreme package (£17.50) or Sky Sports. (£22/month).

Basically, the argument I raised was to do with the fact Virgin Mobile are currently offering free broadband until 31st October 2006 with their mobile phone service. I am coming towards the end of my existing mobile phone contract and was tempted to take up their service.

The person at Telewest inform me that the NTL/Telewest/Virgin Mobile Quad play package is being worked on at the moment. There was no guide but I believe it will be months rather than weeks. So instead of me shooting off to Virgin Mobile and getting free broadband (usual cost £17.99) and a SIM-only tariff of £15 per month (free 300 cross-net minutes and 300 texts), the Telewest employee offered me £13/month off. I believe they usually cut the 2MB broadband from £17.99/mth to £9.99/mth but perhaps I was fortunate to get this reduced further to £4.99.
  • I have just got my 1mb broadband reduced from £17.99 a month to £9.99 a month. A £96 a year saving from a simple short phonecall stating that I wanted to cancel.

This coupled with my "Sky Sports free for 12 months" offer, means my NTL package is good value for money.

I got this offer last year with a similar phone call. I was offered Skysports free if I subscribed to a talk package (chose the £2 a month package, the cheapest one).

So I got SkySports free (worth £15.50 a month or £186 a year), for the equivalent of £24 a year of FREE local calls !

retentions only work Mon-Fri so it'll have 2 b nxt wk when u ring back
sarcasm is just one more service i offer
  • might have to go for it myself
  • Finally got round to this and called today. The number they give in the offer (0845 045 0019) took me to sales who told me to call customer services (0845 454 0000). When I got through the agent said no problem I will just put you on hold for a moment. The call was then answered by a different agent who said she knew nothing about the offer and when I explained it was on the website she checked and then told me I was not eligible. When I said her collegue had already agreed she suggested I call customer services (same number but option 5) and ask to be upgraded to Talk Unlimited. Did this and got a discount of £11 but need to pay £5.50 extra so net saving is £5.50 plus free evening and weekend calls. The whole thing seams completely random and your luck depends on who you speak to and what they are prepared to offer. Still, a bit saved is better than nothing - just need to keep an eye on the bills when they come in to see what it all really means.
If money saving starts to involve irritation or frustration the fine line between thrift and greed should be examined.
