Confused as well. I pay £30.50 per month which is billed to me as Family Pack £8 and Digital Base / Telephone £22.50. Anyone know where the 'normal' price of 2 x £9.75 = £19.50 fits within what I currently pay.If money saving starts to involve irritation or frustration the fine line between thrift and greed should be examined.0

Please note that it binds you into a 12 month contract from the start of the cheaper tariff.0

Hi,
I contacted NTL as I was paying around £73 for my broadband, TV (with movies) and telephone. I compared it with Sky and phoned the customer retention number to advise I was thinking of going over to Sky and would have to take my TV, telephone and broadband (as Sky offer free broadband with their TV).
NTL made me an offer I couldn't refuse!
I have got broadband for £9.99 for 12 months, TV and Telephone line rental for £25 for 12 months, and this included either free movies or sports for a year AND I have an additional digital box which is included in the price. I am well pleased with this.
My advise is to be nice, quote that you are looking at other suppliers but wanted to see what NTL could do before making the move. Good Luck!0 -
Just had a chat with a very nice young woman at NTL, (didn't even have to wait too long!), got my broadband speed down graded to 1meg but that will be increased back up to 2 meg in about a month saving £7per month, also got the half price Family pack, Fantastic.
Does all this mean that NTL have finally discovered the concept of customer service....!0 -
thanks for this.sales staff wouldnt do it but they put me through to customer services who did.and as ive been a customer since 1998 im not tied into a 12 month contract.ive just got to stay on family pack for 6 months at £9.50 but can add or remove extra packages (movies/sports)as normal.0

I have basic package with telewest phoned them up to cancel. When they wanted to know why I told them no one watched TV and it was a waste of money. They asked what would I do when 'it 'all went digital and I replied that I wouldnt watch any television. She then offered me the basic package for free for 12 months and said when 'it' went digital all cable customers would get the basic package free! So phone now and get it free from now!0

Can I firstly just say 'well done' to all those who have managed to secure themselves a better deal. Some wily moneysaving going on!
I'm sure people getting the offer when they are already on this package is fine, I just wanted to point out that I read above (and on other posts) that 'the nice person on the phone' did such and such, it reminded me of my days at one of the call centres.
Quite often, the 'nice people' are those who will do anything to get you off the phone. This is good in circumstances like this when the customer is benefitting - however, more often than not in my experience, these same people are the ones who also don't care when things go wrong, i.e. those agents who don't take an interest in your problem and then fob you off so you end up ringing back, and ringing back, and, etc, etc!!!
Reading back, that sounds bitter!
Maybe it is a little, as us good ones didn't throw out freebies willy nilly unless the cust had a bad experience, etc, and the situation warranted it. We'd rather get the problem sorted, or take the time to check out promotions so they weren't suddenly removed, or charges backdated when audits, etc, were done!
Sorry - i'll stop going on now! I just wanted to point out that sometimes the "Good" people are the ones who don't say yes!0 -
I only have broadband from NTL at £17.99 per month. They wouldnt budge on the price even when I threatened to leave. This signature is not mine!0

Things sounds great but i don't fully understand.
I am on the TV/phone/broadband £30.50 per month package. I was thinking of upgrading my TV package, is there any potential saving for me with this?
Thanks to all.
I'm supposed to be on that too, but I also get a £17.99 charge for broadband on top of the second bill that they send out for phone calls IYSWIM. Is this right or are they having a laugh?!
Naturally their customer (dis)service department is closed after 8pm. :mad:I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

This applies to me too, so i've just checked ntl website and this is what i came up with
£22.50 - base tv pack and telephone - (base tv pack £11.50, phone line £11)
£ 8.00 - family pack
£30.50 - YOUR TOTAL BILL
Therefore the £11.50 (base pack charge) and the £8.00 (family pack charge) is what makes up the £19.50, so if you were to get this for half price - £9.75, your total charge would be £9.75 +£11 for your phone line - TOTAL £20.75, thereby saving the £9.75.
Going to give them a ring tomorrow0
