I did the same for a friend once, when I discovered that she only had 7p noodles in her cupboard, and a box of porridge oats which she made with water.

It makes me feel very sad because it's so difficult to 'feel well' if you are not eating properly.

Just wanted to add that I think your friend will be over the moon with the gesture and the content of the shopping which has been really well thought out. You are a really lovely person. xxx

Absolutely agree. Will you get the opportunity to see her soon?

What about one of those £1 sachet facemasks? MY friend bought me someof those last year when I was ill, and they were a lovely treat, I just wouldn't buy them myself, at all.

lovely Idea ,many years ago ,hubby had come out of work to retrain for a new career and we really struggled.
One day my friend came round with 2 carrier bags full of tins ,packets and jars and a bottle of wine.
she didnt have a lot of money either and it was obvious she had rifled through her own cupboards for a lot of it .
I was in no way offended or embarrassed ,I was very appreciative and actually quite hungry ;)
she knew I would od exactly the same for her and kind of made it alright :)

What a lovely friend. That sounds perfect. :A

Edit - just remembered that a friend and I did similar for each other last year. I bought her some groceries when her situation suddenly changed and when her veg came up in her garden, I came home with plenty to feed the family. :j
