HTC - different phones

Can anyone tell me what the subtle differences are between the various HTC range of Smartphones? I mean is the Legend better than the Desire? Is there a hierarchy where one can view the best featureset to the poorest featureset? Is this how one is expected to make the choice of different phones? I am looking to upgrade to a HTC but am somewhat confused with the plethora of different but almost the same within the HTC range.
Thanks
Thanks

The Desire is currently the top HTC phone in terms of features. The Legend is very similar but has a slightly smaller screen, a slower processor but looks nicer. The Hero is an older phone that has really been replaced by the Desire/Legend.
The above all run of Android. I'm not familiar with the models that run on Windows as I wanted an Android phone. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends

Thanks for the reply - is there anything I should hold back for on from HTC - I do not wish to lock myself into an 18 month contract only to find a brand spanking new mobile is release a month into it. I have been on their website bit not seen anything.

The HTC Incredible (yes, really) it out in a month or so. Like a Desire on speed, 8 meg camera, more memory etc. . .0

Brilliant - thanks - it would have been so annoying!0

I understood it was due in the UK around the time Apple would be announcing the new iPhone (coincidence ?)...
Also the Telegraph did a piece on it http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/mobile-phones/7588923/HTC-Incredible-details-leaked.html0 -

I'm fairly sure that I read somehwere it isn't being made for the European market, and won't be compatible anyway as it's a CDMA device set up to utilise 4g in the States. HTC said they wouldn't be doing a GSM version. As with the Bravo / Desire, it seems to have gone through several name changes in testing. It was originally called the EVO, then the Supersonic before they settled on the Incredible.0 -
I thoguht the Incredible was a US only phone and was basically a Desire with a better camera nad some internal memory.
The Incredible and the Evo are not the same thing as the Incredible has the same 3.7" screen as the Desire whereas the Evo has a 4.3" screen and is also a 4G phone.
I think the Evo is a US only device as well. It's my problem, it's my problem

I suppose that's one thing the iPhone has over it's rivals, the name.
It's difficult to get confused when the only difference is 3g or 3gs. 0 -
Is this or is it not coming out in the uk?0
