Moaning about people he has had coming in his shop and stating how they could make stuff like that etc etc.
Suppose there must be a few independent fashion type peeps based in Brighton.... but not that many?
Sounds like what some bolschy person might say if they were angling for a big discount on the ticket price. A bit rude to come into a shop and then begin slating the merchandise. I've never worked on a shop floor or in retail but have many times felt sorry for staff trying to do their very best for narky customers who expect to be treated like royalty. I don't like seeing that.
Lir, a Bruce Willis look-a-like (more Die Hard 1 than Die Hard 4) who I know is a solicitor but I'm not sure if he visits this forum. I hope whatever he said against buying now gave your husband reason to reconsider. Wait for the crash and save a lot of money? Yippee-ki-yay. I'm not worried about my house buying fund against inflation - maybe a little about default - but definitely not inflation.0 -

I know you would be pleased aand I love that you care.
We did offer this morning and were told our offer was more than favourable.....
...and then vendors situation changed...again...so left adrift till we know more.0 -
I have heard the exact comment from an art gallery owner/photographer so maybe it was him...we meet up for a drink next week so I will find out.:)
It was someone in the fashion industry.
Stated he was fed up of customers coming in and constantly going on about "how they could make something like that". He said his wife had the best answer to them where she stated that "no, you'd be copying me as I came up with this design.... first you'd need to think of something original and then make it".
He said he was from Brighton and it made me think of you. As I said, must be quite a few indie fashion shops in Brighton.... but not that many.... think he said his name was Daniel? Began with D anyhow. Might have made that name up for all I know though. Or Brighton! lol0 -
Aagh.....I know exactly who that is...they went on Wife Swap and do load to promote their work. I knew them from Brick Lane also.JonnyBravo wrote: »It was someone in the fashion industry.

I know. I'm amazed I haven't starting nail biting.
That said , the stress is showing: I ate a croissant. with butter. That will be 2 lbs on the scales in the morning
Its hard enough worrying about whether to fix or track (undecided still), whether the rates being offered by the bank are the best we can get (can't remember the tracker but the fix offered is 4.09 I think, but only for two years) and whether the house is right (has subsidence that is dealable with according to survey, and other works we need to find the money to do more urgently ) whether the decision is right (me to remain both living apart from DH and not running a business as planned) whether the future is inflation/deflation..and whther our multiple is crazy..and then this.0 -

I know...I sympathise as I remember when we sold and traded up having many sleepless nights about the extra mortgage...of course, look back now on the graph and we traded up at the absolute right moment. However, we moved as it was right for us at the time, affordable with sacrifice (which could be read as unaffordable of course) and I don't regret the decision.
I also don't regret buying in 1990 when we could have waited until 95/96 as we gained more in all sorts of ways than we ever lost in the neg equity ££.
I do also recall forgetting to work out that gas and elec would be more on a 4 bed detached rather than a 2 bed but hey, MSE wasn't around back then.:o
Knowing you in the way I do I would say living with DH as much as poss is no 1. Everything else comes second but I don't know how this place fits into that.0 -
I have just re-read your post....so....
1; living with DH as much as poss.
2; working premises but not to overstretch in case your health does a dip....I hate to be negative but trying to think of all outcomes.....as it would be a nightmare with a full on business (involving livestock) and staff and you need every ounce of your energy to keep it going profitabally..the profits being essential to service the debt.
3; are your parents moving in too?0 -
another develpment today...everything at once, is it is likely dh is going to be split between two offices at some point in the near future. Not more money though, but no more expense either, but now locking money away I think of all the things we could buy!
we have an invite in London next week and I just feel a bit....unusually, isolated, I think being out with people would be good right now. Can't go, late finish and driving both ways in the tuck when stressed is not the best plan...
Grrrr...I'm calmer here in person than in type. Sort of....the croissant has been followed by a piece of bread.
DH s home today, and probably tomorrow.

Point 2 is important I think. Maybe even if health stays good...having a life?
3. Parents are separating, I get custody of one of them. Don't think it will pose much of a problem. That one will continue the arrangement we had here..i.e. equal share of bills etc, responsibility for self and selfs wants. Will probably travel a bit. Offered us money and we said no. we want this to be our risk....not theirs. Think they should spend what they earned...have a blow out for the rest of the time....
edit: stress eating despite calm...I have had some sourdough...god bread is good. I know I'll pay tomoorow, but BREAD! Hw I do with out his good stuff amazes me.....0
