Just had a google talk chat with my mum and she really has given me food for thought.
I was telling her about a situation at work where my boss was talking about me and being exceptionally complimentary. I was saying to her that I always seem to have the ability to wow people at work, but it never happens in my personal life.
She said, and I quote, "you put more effort into work relationships -
you see people as challenges"
I'm mulling that over. I've not quite thought it through fully yet, but I know she is right. It's quite sad really I think.:jI shall call him Squishy and he shall be mine and he shall be my Squishy.0 -
Hope you feel better soon Elly! Not got the pics done yet, sorry, but am nearly finished woohoo! Hope you like them. Just don't let the kids use them for toys - Mei has sadly been binned after she came apart several times and was unrepairable - polymer clay apparently isn't the best toy material for a 3 yr old! It is quite durable - I made a button for a cardigan of DD1's that got washed about 20 times and was fine - but the model didn't like being dropped every five minutes lol.
Jo, that made me tear up lol, I'd love that, Freyja would probably try to climb into the duck penI have visions of us Dribblers all meeting up and doing lots of screaming and hugging, and talking ten to the dozen lol - thanks to all for the support, I am starting to think that way this year thanks to this thread; that I need to be focusing my energies on what is important. I'm going to book my driving test for the end of this month so that's the next thing to focus on.
Em - I like the Sulkie idea! - I'm going to go for the cake topper thing atm, and get a website organised - eventually - and have the Sulkies as a sort of cheaper option for if people like the stuff I do but don't want to pay for a whole topper, which will be more detailed and possibly different clay. My sister should get some pics up on FB of the one I did for her friend which will enable me to use them on Ebay; I've told her to get good ones! - so hopefully will get an order. I'd have to generate some interest in the Sulkies first I think, then offer a personalised one as a prize maybe...hmmm...!
The students sound quite sweet! Do you have them at certain times of the year or all year round? Anyway it's taken me half an hour to write this inbetween watching the IT crown so I'm off to bed, night lol xx xxI have come here to chew bubblegum and kick @ss.... and I'm all out of bubblegum.0 -
Hi Joey
how are the kitties? My brain's too dead to understand fully what you mean about relationships but I think maybe if you were trying to 'wow' people in your personal life it wouldn't be a good thing; for example, when I've been a home carer, I've always made an effort to adapt my attitude etc to how they are feeling that day, what gets the best response, etc; but I couldn't do that all the time because I have to be able to relax and look after myself when I go home iykwim. What Jo said earlier about people accepting you rings true I think. Big hugs to you. I'm yawning myself to sleep lol, hope you feel better tomorrow, night night xx xx

Hi Paula. Kittens are lovely - I posted a couple of pics on the Ville.
Sorry if I gave the impression that I was upset about what my mum said - I'm more intrigued than upset to be honest. I love looking at myself from other peoples' points of view, and this is a good one!
The reason I know she is right is because just about every romantic relationship I've had has started off as a working relationship. I just don't click with people the same way in "normal" life for some reason. That's not to say I don't have friends, but I really do seem to get people's hearts when I work with them, and it just doesn't happen the same when I don't.
I've never analysed it before and my mum just randomly threw that comment into the conversation and took me aback. I wonder if she thinks I don't try as hard with her. Hmmm, even more food for thought!!:jI shall call him Squishy and he shall be mine and he shall be my Squishy.0 -
Night Paula - next week will be a good week

joey do you think your next relationship should then be with someone outside work as i think what paula says is true i am totally different in work than at home ,well maybe i live life in a permanent state of happiness lol whoa betide the person that actually makes me angry although i cant even maintain a temper the kids have even sussed that and they are only 7,9.
i think if the person is from work they will expect you to maintain your work face and that might be why it doesnt last however if you met someone in your home time they would likely fall in love with the real you .no nice rspca men then lolSo finally debt free and it feels amazing however continuing here to stay debt free.Next declutter house and body and finally swim under that waterfall x0 -
