Peppermint would have been my first choice, but since I don't have any... lol, didn't bother with the sudafed in the end (don't like to take tablets unless I have to) and a good sleep seems to have sorted me out for the moment.
Hi everyone, hope you're enjoying your Sunday! I'm just popping in and back out, the race build-up is on then of course the race proper, so I'll be back in a few hours!!

Hi all
Haven't caught up yet but wanted to up date you quickly.
They are still treating for meningitis as they can't rule it out completely until the blood cultures are done - 5.30pm tomorrow is the 48hours up but Tuesday morning before results. He is on intravenous antibiotics, which he hates, but because he has improved considerably the doctors have moved him from 6 hourly ones to 24hour which means we are home. He still has the thing (?) in his hand so tomorrow he can have more antibiotics but they are happy to treat at home. He was getting very stressed in the hospital.
It has been a mad 24 hours. Yesterday after he was sick and I had cleaned up I checked his temp and it was 39.9, he was developing a red rash which did not fade under a glass, his feet were cold to touch, he was complaining of a headache and he couldn't keep his eyes open even when stood up he was drooping and struggling. So he had 5 symptoms - the out of hours dr telephone service instructed me to immediately get down to the out of hours gp who was waiting for us to arrive, within 10 mins they had given him a penicillin injection in his bum (god did he scream!)
We were taken straight to an isolation room on the children's ward and we were looked after fantastically. He is very up and down today as he is very tired and it has been very stressful but he is alert and talking lots! (follows his mom!) I am glad we are home and he has relaxed too - though how he will react at having his next lot of antibiotics tomorrow I don't know - he screamed the place down for the half hour it took earlier! As long as the results are clear then tomorrow will be the last of the antibiotics..if not they can still treat us at home apparently.
So not got the all clear but pretty sure everything is ok..... but couldn't take the risk with the mix of symptoms that he had.
Right off to read back through.....
I'm a very relieved Nixi!! OMG I was scared for a while yesterday!Life is a work in progress0 -
