    It is difficult Nixi, putting my practical head on perhaps you should do a bit for a local paper about how you want to give something back so are offering your services to a local charity so if they want to contact you you can choose one, its just going to be a case of wording it correctly more than anything so it doesnt come across as to self promoting at the beginning if that makes sense?

    Thanks in advance for contacting camp gareth bless his cotton socks lol :-)

    Nixi - I think this is a fab idea. I can't see the charities objecting to you using them for publicity as long as you are up front about it. At the end of the day they are using you and you time so why not. If its done in the right way then everyone wins.

    Paula - I would talk to lots of people, get all your info straight in your head as its always easier to make the desicion then. I was fostered for about a year when I was 15 and the family were great.

    Amber - great idea!! It would be a good way of meeting people too....

    Just back from shopping.... I hate food shopping!

    Everyone would live happily ever after :p My mum brought me back down to earth by asking why I didn't take on a couple of old people too while I was at it :D
    -you're as bad as me! Want to heal the world in a haphazard and chaotic way :rotfl:OH brings me back down to earth, balancing out my habit for taking too much on by being occasionally spectacularly selfish...it's like having another small child! Have just been looking at foster care case studies and there are some lovely quotes as well as some people who are in a similar situation to me, which is encouraging.
    It's a shame you have to pay off your mortgage, but at least you'll have that security behind you - and I'm ahead of you on the blog thing lol, had already thought about that! My lot are all asleep, including OH :rotfl:

    Nixi, it's called orange grove, have you heard of it? OH's mum is a social worker and knows someone who's with them - she said they pay a retainer when you don't have anyone. I thought they would be good to look at as we'd know someone who's with them, although we may change direction as we go on. Don't think I'd want newborns as much as toddlers to maybe, six? For the moment anyway. Our youngest is 16 months old now so in a year she'd be 2.5 and oldest would be six. Definitely wouldn't want teenagers unless we were still doing it when ours were past teenage - just wouldn't feel right doing it xx

    Name sort of sounds familiar but not one I know anything about. Though the fact that you know people involved with them is positive. I really would reccommend giving them a call and having a chat - maybe ask if they have some other carers you can talk to too.

    Thank you - my thoughts but the idea didn't derive from thinking of how to get publicity for me so it seems odd!

    I've done my mini move- just delivered some spare runner beans and salad leaves plants to my friend to save her buying some. Karma has paid me back tho as she gave me an old single duvet that I needed to put on the back seat of my car to stop doggy claws scratching the leather. :-) Happy days :-)

    Hi all :) Nixi - maybe try searching do-it - you type in your postcode and it brings up a list of charities in your area requiring help. Mine often generates the admin/ marketing roles as well as the more supportive roles. Here's the link: http://www.do-it.org.uk/

    Had a great time at the zoo, but i'm shattered again now! 2 year olds are such hard work!
    Just £10,852.28p to go...

    Trust that little voice in your head that says "Wouldn't it be interesting if...";
    And then do it.

    Is anyone else doing the 26 mile Moonwalk in London next weekend? Feeling a bit nervous now! - walking round the zoo with a 2 year old was tiring enough.
