lol I appreiate you trying to help me. It is a mystery.

Aunties pc operating system is windows 7 and service level I dont know what that is sorry.

My operating system is windows 7 as well
Win 7 wow up to date just like me:D
There are no service packs for 7 yet . Time will tell , however we are no nearer to the solution :o . Question and I don't know whether it is relevant but ....
when you first installed your dongle did it go to Windows Update to add the drivers ? And also it may be worth going to Control Panel / Device Manager on your aunts PC and delete the wireless/dongle (you guess what its called 'cos I don't know :o) and then plug in yours which obviously works and see if it works then on hers, if you see what i mean :o ... Silly me but if I don't sort this I will bump until someone does:D

I am not sure wether it installed the drivers or not the first time. But I uninstalled in and then re installed and added the win7 update for aunts dongle as according to o2 its an older dongle that needs an update which is what I have done.
I may just do what you have suggested their. I will uninstall again then reinstall with my dongle and see if that makes a difference, if not will take it to o2 shop tommorow and see if they can shed any light on it.
Thanks so much for all your help and for bumping the thread :D
I will go and quickly do that now as I really must get to sleep now as my little boy gets up at 5am every morning
Goodnight and I will update the threade tommorow.

Night Night, but if it needs an update and Auntie has no network access how do they expect that she will get it ?? However if you have a USB stick no problem, ps if you go to O2 make sure they don't charge Auntie until she gets connected.

Well unfortunately I am no further forward with this. I went to the o2 store tonight and even though they were busy the girl spent an hour with me and she was very helpful and seemed knowledgable enough but still couldnt get it to work.
She said there are guru techie people in some of the stores so phone and book an appointment with one of them and maybe they will be more help.

I would appreciate any more help on here if someone thinks they may be able to help me solve this.

    Its driving me crazy

Still no luck with this. O2 sent me through a replacement and I have tried that but still nothing. I really think it must have something to do with the settings on the laptop or something.
Please Please is there anyone out there that thinks they can help :-)

NExt question is which Antivrus have you both got ?
What do you get with Control Panel/Network and Sharing Centre using Set up new network?

    Hiya :)

Yes o2 have sent me a new o2 dongle today and no change it still doesnt work in the laptop which is why I know it has to be to do with the setting on the laptop somehow well I think.

It is norton trial version of antivirus that is on aunties laptop. As to the set up new network I havent tried that.

Does the new dongle work on your lappy? Sadly I don't have a dongle nor experience of using them, I am surprised no one else has looked at this thread there are loads of folks out there who have experience :(
