What they're getting at is that if you undercharge on postage you'll pretty much guilt your buyers into leaving you great stars. :D

One thing to think about- they may not be marking you down on postage, but rather packaging.
Obviously I don't know how you send, but it might be worth thinking about. :)

I see - your saying that by undercharging postage ( how would they know I was undercharging ? - by actually stating in the listing " I am undercharging ? " ) they would leave better feedback for postage than they do for when it is sent free ??!

    ps
I send all items out in new jiffy bags with printed address and printed and hand signed receipt enclosed
As Martin says - please be nice - there is no such thing as a stupid question ! ;)

Ebay should have a stars template that you can paste into your listing showing buyers how to rate the seller on the performance that they have just received from them

they are keen enough to tell sellers what the stars mean and how to improve them - well they should devote a little time to educating the buyers as well !

Well, when I get something through from ebay I often look at the postage label/stamps*
I think putting it in your listing would possibly defeat the object, but I dunno- people are strange creatures.

If you use paypal postage there is a option to hide how much it costs, but I think everything else pretty much has the value printed on it.

(*for me this is to figure out which nearly identical lot it is, not to whinge about the postage, but I think a lot of buyers do :A)
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine. :p

I don't see the point in P&P charges as a buyer. I will not bid for an item if the P&P is too high, so why buy an item, grumble about the P&P charges and then mark down for it? I don't see the point.

I will mark down if the item is shipped in unsuitable packaging, for example, baby clothing in a brown envelope (non padded, just a paper envelope) or brown paper. I think it shoudl be changed to 'suitability of packaging' or something.

Discharge time, so long as it is within what the seller has listed (eg, 7 days for a large item, 2 days for a small item), again, I have agreed to buy it under those terms and so long as it is posted or shipped within that time frame, why mark down for it?

Try leaving feedback after payment, leaves you with a happier customer.
I am only a personal seller- sold a few things recently due to clear out but nothing major.
When a buyer pays I always leave feedback straight away, then it is up to them to contact me or leave feedback if they want to. Some don't, some do!
I find it annoying a seller who won't leave you any feedback until you leave them some- the feedback should be based on how fast you pay, communication etc, not what you say about them. I understand some sellers are wary about a buyer leaving them a negative but even if someone does leave you a neg, you can still only leave them a +ve or nothing!

As a seller, I don't leave feedback until the buyer does, just because that can be the only way I know that they have received the item and are happy with it. For me, the transaction is still "live" until that point, so I don't feel I can leave feedback on the whole thing IYSWIM.

Thats a good idea! I think I may start doing that as well, as a couple of people haven't left any feedback at all. Thanks!!

Each to their own, I still leave feedback for a seller who has not left me any!
In fact I happily leave feedback first as a buyer and a seller- someone has too...if well all buy and expect seller to always leave it first, and sell but expect buyer to always leave it first, then no feedback will ever be left!

Some people, despite liking to get feedback, never leave any for others (or are very slow). If you stop leaving FB you might find more than a couple not leaving you any!
I think, tbh, there are limits to how much you can influence people leaving you FB. My FB score would be higher, if they all left me a +ve, but then for some reason perhaps those not leaving any are unhappy but not unhappy enough to merit a refund etc, may leave a neg or neutral, so best they do nothing ?

I see what you mean, customers prefer it better if you leave it after payment though.
