Cancelling Sport Channels during summer

Just to let you all know that I called up Sky to cancel my sports channels during the summer months (all the sky sports and ESPN).

The lady told me that they had an offer on and that they would reduce my bill by £15 for 4 months and give me ESPN free for 4 months also.

So, not only do I get to keep the sports and ESPN through the summer but I save more than I would have by just cancelling.

My mum called up and she got 6 months discount.

Give them a call and see if there is an offer on your account.

Anybody know if this is still the case? Will phone tonight if it is. Although my Sky+ box has stopped giving me the Sky+ functionality so I was going to threaten to leave anyway.

Is the offer really that good?

I think it is more a question of seeing how much your bill has been reduced by over the period and whether or not you need what has been offered to you 'free'.

I rang to cancel my sports channels and got offered nothing, I also decided to reduce my package further as there are a number of channels I never watch. When asked why I was reducing my package so much I said that I have been with Sky for years and they refuse to give me a sky+ box for free (which is their right ofc) so as I do not have the function to record programmes that I would miss I may as well cancel the channels. Not even the hint of an offer after that carrot was dangled, so !!!!!! um I say ;-P My bill has now gone from £48.50 to £19. I am sure they will come to me at some point, or not, its up to them really.

They rang me to offer sports for the world cup, when I told them I detested football and would never consider having any foodball biased channel they have now given me all movie channels for free until the end of the world cup. Just to clarify, I do actualy detest football and would rather use anhydrous hydrofluoric acid as an eyewash than watch one second of it.

I rang up on 08442 414141 and selected the cancel chanels option.
I said I wanted to cancel ESPN until the start of the new season. The chap on the phone said he would need to speak to his supervisor as he had not done this before and then came back with the offer.

It was one of those that has to be taken at the time - may not get it if I ring up again
