Have you tried entering your mobile number at:
    http://www.tesco.com/mobilenetwork/

    Yeah, I had tried that.

I rang them up and they explained that it takes a further 2 days (after porting your number to them and it going through etc) for everything to trickle down the lines and catch up on the system

Sorry to piggy back on this thread...

I've got my Tesco PAYG SIM and I've just got my Orange PAC code.

I was told that I should set up my favourite numbers before I top up the SIM. So what do I do first? Can I set up favourite numbers on the number given on the SIM pack before I port my old number across? Is this possible if I haven't added any credit? Will the favourites stay with the account after porting (presumably yes)?

Hi Kem. I don't know as I'm doing mine the other way round (port old number to tesco mobile then set up fav no's etc)

    Have you already topped up?
Do you know how quickly the "free" credit gets added?
Any idea how long it takes for the favourite numbers to become "active"?

Sorry, lots of questions I know. :)

    Yes, I've already topped up.

I think the free credit and 5 favourite numbers can be activated from Friday 4pm for me.

It takes 2 days to port number over and then a further 2 days for your number to become logged on the tesco mobile system

Once your number is on Tesco you can setup your favoruite numbers then. Text to confirm them will normally come through with 4 hours (mine always has). Once you topup on TEsco the free credit is normally added within 24 hours

    Thanks cally6008 and Mike J.

Decided to stop faffing around and get on with it so put the SIM in and was surprised to find that Tesco automatically sent me a text with the MMS and internet settings. I was wondering how to sort that bit out easily.

Spoke to a very helpful customer service rep and gave them my PAC code and I too shall be transferred to Tesco PAYG by 4pm on Friday. (I was told not to switch the phone on with the Tesco SIM until after 4pm and then make a chargeable call to activate the transfer - I currently have zero credit as I wasn't sure about topping up the old/temp number - how do I activate the changes if I have zero credit? Also, can I leave my Orange phone on and will it just "die" at some point when the number is transferred or should I leave that switched off too?)

The only downside I can see with Tesco Mobile is the data charge but I hardly use that - only tended to use it when it was free on Orange (following a top-up) as the charges were too high.

Do you know if Tesco has any free pages to connect to - similar to the free Orange World pages or are you paying every time you connect?
