  • Cheers! Stroke of genius. I'd never even considered the volvo owners club before. See, I knew MSE was the right place to come.:T

Nope, not the 7-seater, or T5

looking at a distance, I think £3k for a Y reg car with almost 120k miles is very high.

It may be priced competitively against similar cars but are those cars selling? If not, their price is too high so by pricing against them yours is also too high. In any case, perhaps similar ones listed for £3k actually change hands for £2k in the end. Who knows.

Good shout on the owners club. Maybe look at your advert too. So many times I see the standard blurb, but why should they buy yours? The advert should detail what state it's in mechanically. What justifies them buying yours over someone elses. Hopefully you'll find a buyer soon at your list price :)

Have you had any enquiries at all or has the phone/email been completely dead?

Gotta admit I wouldn't pay 3 grand for it either.

Saying that I'm also in a similar situation at the moment, trying to sell a car for a pretty ambitious price and getting zero response.

I think its £700-1000 too expensive for a private sale car - especially a big petrol at the moment with fuel being at an all time high.

But ... you might be lucky! Big volvos do tend to be popular in some parts of the country.

It could be partly down to how you've worded the advert - you might like to try posting the wording here and we might be able to help you improve it.
  • Thanks to all for your valuable input....

Although we live in Surrey (and everything seems more bloody expensive!) and cars hold their prices better here than many other places, it seem that the general consensus of opinion is that it's a bit overpriced.

I bought it initially because it was big enough for all the pushchairs/carseats/DIY stuff/suitcases etc that this family seem to attract. It has been a great (safe) family car, and hopefully someone else will view it in the same light.

I agree that petrol prices are a bigger and bigger problem... Plus I think everyone's being a bit cautious financially until they know what delightful candidate we'll end up with as PM!

Actually, the three responses we did have is when we had it on initially at £3250! Since we dropped the price to £2995, not a peep!

Once again, thanks to all. I have a chat to my hubby this evening, and we'll probably drop the price. Perhaps try for £2.5k and see if it generates a bit more interest.

Great way to get about £800 for a car worth £2K+

    Nice! :j
