i am also planning a holiday to USA around 20th august 2010. i will return to UK after 2 months that is in october.i have claimed for benefits on JSA.how long before i shall inform JCP about my claim to stop? though i havnt got letter about whether my HRT has been accepted or not due to which i am not even getting my payment yet. the process is SLOW n fustrating.
plus does stopping claim also takes time??? if i do it 2 weeks before leaving .would that do??0 -
as far as stopping a claim goes you can do it at the last minute if you want to and it will be with immediate effect. they will make a payment in the normal way for upto the last day of your claim. they will also send your p45 through the post.0

aww thank u so much for replying..
what is p45??when am not around for 2 months and IF they make my last payment during my absence. can i receive it later afer i return to uk or ask any of my family member to collect it for me?0 -
p45 is a small form that has details about your income upto the date your claim ends.the usual thing to do would be to pass it onto your new employer but that is when people stop claiming because they have got a job. i think in your case it is just a case of holding onto it until you come back to the uk and then giving it back to the jobcentre when you reclaim.humariazahmad wrote: »aww thank u so much for replying..

do you get your benefit paid into a bank account? can you not access this with a debit card while in america?
ps i am no expert so dont take what i have said as 100% definite. hopefully one of the jobcentre workers that post on this site will see this thread and give some advice.0 -
