Mine isn't but then we once had the loveliestmost gentle golden retriever who would have eaten a cat as soon as looked at it! Dogs are dogs, some are OK with cats, some not. Well done for considering these poor wee things propinquitas. Glad we helped with your decision. If they are anything like my girl you'll never regret it! :)

Its lovely to hear you are thinking of adopting these dogs. There are SO many staffs in rescue now that if these arent cat friendly Im sure you will find some that are.

With very best wishes - and do let us know how you get on. What part of the country are you in?

Staffies certainly do not deserve the reputation they have, if you are looking for a loyal, devoted human like dog then they fit the bill perfectly:D

They are without doubt my favourite breed:)

Oh god, have you seen the two tiny staffie pups on dogsblog or the boy in Kings Lynn who is desperate for a home and who is used to cats?

Chester is a 1 year old pure bred Staffordshire Bull Terrier and is absolutely adorable! He is a very gentle boy who is in desperate need of a new home. Chester has been part of a family, but they have had to give poor Chester up through no fault of his own. He has lost all his home comforts and just cannot understand why he is in a kennel, and alone, it’s so heartbreaking for him. He is very very loving and affectionate and presses his face against the kennel bars just so he can feel your hands on his face. It’s pitiful, it really is, poor poor boy. He is fine with other dogs, although prefers to be the only dog at home, and is not interested in cats. He is housetrained, walks well on a lead and travels well in the car, perfect in fact and I really really fell in love with him.

I am in East Anglia. They are described as cat, child & bomb proof!:rotfl:

I must see them though and then decide - as if I have any doubt they will not be OK with my boys I can't do it. I would dearly love to rescue at least 1 dog if not 2. I shouldn't read the web sites, they are very upsetting but so compelling. These rescues are bursting at the seams, it's just awful - a real crisis.

Just want to recommend to the OP the chinese crested dog. Not the hairless variety but the powderpuff. They are a really relaxed breed (unlike the crazy hairless variety) and great with children. They are as a bonus relatively cheap because most people have never heard of them and they aren't the favoured type of most breeders. They are long haired but they do not shed hair and if you don't want the grooming you just buy a set of clippers and go for the fluffy look. There is a breed rescue too.

So Kings Lynn may be ok for you then?

Otherwise, do you know Frettenham? Crostwick Kennels(part of Hillside Sanctuary) has some staffies too or MeadowGreen?.

I got bored of reading the arguments so skipped to this page lol.

I am a massive staffy fan so had to comment on this thread!!! I'm so pleased to see lots of people reommending staffys as they get such a bad reputation usually. People even cross the road when they see me walking mine when all he wants to do is say hello and lick you to death lol.

Currently enzo is asleep next to me, they love being with people and mine follows me everywhere even into the bathroom lol!! So i recommend a staffy, the kennel club actually call them the 'nanny dog' as they are good with children.

Anyway hope your search goes well whatever breed you go for and can offer a pup a forever loving home!
    :) xx
