The most useless beauty products I ever bought....

That is a fairy tale.
If you apply top coat the colour will stop fading or "wearing off" as fast, but people will natural nails never get to that point because the vanish chips away..Your nails naturally grease just like any other part of your body and that is why the colour gets "loose" kind of and allows it to chip away.
And that is not going to stop just because you have two three layers.
Fake nails are different, the vanish can "penetrate" the material that layers on your nails and then it doesn't chip away, but just wears off. That is when you are better off putting the clear layer over the colour as that will wear off first so the colour stays vibrant for longer.
However applying clear vanish looks good, especially on deep colours.
I'm not sure what science you are applying here, obviously it does not work for you but works for me.
I got tips from a forum for professional health technician, here's what they say about top coats:

I wish that it would work for me! Maybe the enamel on my teeth is just too far gone (after spending 4 of the past 10 years with chronic bulimia and anorexia for the another 7 years of that, my teeth are wrecked! Its all about protection now as they cannot be repaired). I just didn't feel the Tesco version worked for me, but thanks for the tip.
Thank you for your reply.... I'm a kind of sensitive gal and am easily offended.... but also there are some very nasty people in this forum (the employment one is terrible!), so I got used to responding aggressively to some types.....
Regarding the toothpaste, personally I don't think it really works, I can't see how scientifically a toothpaste can help repair your enamel, but I use it just in case because I've got problems.....
Did you actually see any improvements with it?0 -

I never use Lush products. For some strange reason I'm allergic to their shops, I can't stand the smell, it seems chemical to me (it probably isn't), too strong to be natural.... What do other people think?
Colgate sensitive toothpaste. This actually HURT my teeth to use! (the enamel protect fares a little better but does not have a patch on the Sensodyne pronamel.)
I use pronamel too, Tesco do a version that I use as well and don't notice any difference (a part from flavour, and price...).
Just a quick one re Lush - it's not chemical, and the smell isn't pumped out (so many people think it is!)
It's because the majority of the products are unpackaged - imagine if you took all the tops off in a shop full of essential oils, or even Boots
Some preservatives are used, but the minimum necessary.0 -
The most useless beauty products I have purchased are:
1.Clinique 3-Step Skin Care System
2.Clarins products.
I found both Clinique and Clarins to be so harsh on my skin, it actually felt like it was burning.
3. Benefit BADgal mascara-too clumpy
4. Benefit Some Kinda Gorgeous Foundation
In fact I find most Benefit products to be pretty rubbish especially for the price
5. Lancome Virtuose Mascara-too clumpy.
6. MAC eyeshadows-didn't stay in place.
After trying Clinique, Clarins, Estee Lauder, Benefit and Lancome I think I'm going to stick to regular high street brands.-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

Woohoo! I'm normal! Gotta go tell the cat.0 -
Just a note to add to the nail varnish posts - I was given a bottle of OPI basecoat/top coat/nail hardner - I found if I took time to let each coat dry (usually when DH is watching Men & Motors or some such thing!) my varnish would last for nearly a week depending on what I'm doing (I'm always forgetting to use gloves in the garden) I found it so good I bought another bottle (£12!!!) but I still use Rimmel & Boots 17 varnishes for the colours.
I also have really dry skin on my heels & if I dont look after them they crack & split which can be quite painful. I've been using Avon Dry Skin Relief (now changed to Dry Skin SOS - half the size - grrr) its a bit like Neutrogena and its the only thing that seems to keep them in check - does help my dry shins too.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Bio Oil did to nothing for me other than clog up my pores. Also, years ago I bought Tendskin to prevent ingrown hairs from shaving and waxing and that was pretty useless too.0

You can buy it more cheaply on ebay:

I got mine from boots only because the Creative strengthener I ordered got damage and I had to return it, so I went to Boots to get OPI instead. I use it as base coat because I did not know you could buy an all in one and I had already got myself a top coat...0 -

No worries, the forums can get OTT sometimes, its a mixed bag! (I do know some other forums which are even worse for that:eek: luckily not all forums are:))
I found that if I don't use senodyne I cannot eat hot cold, sweet or acidic foods without alot of pain. It takes about a week to notice the difference.
Thing that makes the difference is why you have sensitive teeth: I used to have bulimia which basicly stripped my teeth of most of their enamel. This can never be recovered but what I think the enamel toothpastes do is
1. wash off bacteria without too much acid (some toothpastes are too painful to use for me and I can only assume its the acid or chemicals in the flavor, I cannot use Colgate total care without about 10 mins of chronic tears-comming-out-of-my-eyes pain!) but it obviously works for some else they wouldn't keep selling it. Its maybe the lack of enamel on my teeth that means this does not work for me.
and 2. leave some form of a coating on the teeth. This I think washes off as the day goes on (a bit like all toothpastes which claim 12 hour protection and so wear off after so long). I think the coating on the proenamel toothpaste makes a difference, for a start I am able to use a mouthwash! (previously too painful).
I think there are other reasons for sensitive teeth, receeding gums, damaged teeth, worn out teeth (worn out so the gum and nerves are on show)...I'm not a dentist but this is what I can gather. I am sure there are even more causes of sensitivity to add to that. Maybe this is why sensodyne pronamel works for some and not for others. All I know is that if I use any other brand the sensitivity comes back within about a week and its very painful! I have tried many other brands, everything from Tesco and Boots to Colgate and Blanxx, none seem to do as good a job for me.0 -
My worst buys include Rimmel crema eye shadow which slip off my eyelids and went everywhere; fructis shampoo and conditioner- my hair was greasy by 11 am; original source tea tree and mint shampoo and conditioner- my hair went the other way and was really dry and brittle and lidl baby wipes- dried out my skin but also broke out in spots. Love the No. 7 quick thinking wiped but only ever buy them using the £5 off voucher so they're only £1.500

on the toothy pegs posts, i use one drop of t tree on my toothbrush every morning, it keeps my teeth cleen all day, you dont get that furry feeling on them, i find it's also good for bleeding gums, and general mouth probs as well
I didnt like the fructis shampoo, it made my hair feel like it had a plastic coating on it.
vie moisturisers make my skin burn when i apply them, also their mascara flakes off during the day as wellI get paid to smell great :j0
