Hi, I don't know if this is the right area for this post, but I have watched a DVD called "The Secret" that someone lent me. I don't want to give the meaning away behind it, but it was very informative and got me thinking - how wide an audience has this got? How many of you have heard about this or watched it? If you have done what it said, has it worked for you?
Just thought it would be interesting to see other's perspectives on it.
Thanks x

One of my friends was on about this the other day but it was the book she was speaking about. I thought it sounded great but I went on amazon and checked out the reviews for this and the dvd and it was a thumbs down from most.:smileyhea0

Oh right, I actually thought it was quite good. What they tell you, you kind of already know, but it was just good to hear and think alot of people would benefit from it! The dvd is on ebay for about a fiver, I would pay that, but probably no more. Yes there is a book as well, maybe you can put it on your xmas list?

When you need inspiring about something it is good to watch.0 -
Is it a bit like "The Rules"? I haven't heard of this film myself0

I don't know that one? Probably some very similiar things on the market. I think one book i read similiar to the above was "Face the Fear" - think the Secret though is by Rhonda something. I googled it and its on there.0

I loved 'The Secret'. I find anything that helps you to focus on what you really want to bring into your life is very helpful and the law of attraction does work. The only issue I have with it is that it doesn't encourage you to take action as well. If you do both its very powerful. I suppose it makes sense. If you show up, things happen. If it worked for me it can work for anyone. Good luck with it!0

Oh go on, help us be more Moneysaving and tell us, then we won't have to spend the money to find out.
edit - never mind, I've just looked it up on Wikipedia, sounds like nonsense.loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -
oooooooooooo so how did it work for you? I'm interested! Sounds good, I'm all for positive thinking x0

The secret is ....cultish. I don't like it personally, not just for itself but because of a certain sort of following it draws. The positivity is a wonderful thing.....but it doesn't mean you can just say you are being positive, you have to be. If it helps someone do that...great.
There is a website and the send ''inspirational'' stuff very now and then if you sign up IIRC.0 -
IIRC?
Thanks for your comment, I can see your point.0 -
When I was 18, I lived in London and used to have frequent hospital appts. I walked past what I now realise was a Scientology base. They offered free personality tests so I went in for one. After doing the test I was called into a room and was given a roasting for an hour as to the defects in my personality (had come out of an abusive home, I was well aware I had problems) and this woman tried very hard to get me to buy books, courses etc. I was very very broke. How I held out I don't know (I am VERY stubborn lol) but while I was waiting I saw this very hen pecked looking man say to a woman who worked there how much the courses had helped him and how grateful he was blah blah. He didn't look like he had two pennies to rub together either so goodness knows how his involvement had affected him, but probably a perfect victim. It was only when I thought about it later I realised what had been going on and what a lucky escape I'd had, I didn't realise what they were doing at the time.
So personally, I think these things are rather dangerous for the vulnerable.., who are the most likely to buy them.0
