BP - off the hook ? ...and a BUY ?

BP credit rating by Fitch now down to BBB from AA just two notches above junk status.
Causing even more downward pressure on the SP, since, no doubt, there will be some pension funds that are not permitted to hold stock (or only a limited percentage of stock) with such a low rating under their rules. They will therefore be required to sell. Further downgrades are likely IMO, thereby worsening the situation. There is a pleasure in the pathless woods, There is a rapture on the lonely shore, There is society, where none intrudes, By the deep sea, and music in its roar: I love not man the less, but Nature more...0 -

They are either guessing or being told by Hussein Obama to keep upping the figure to provide a fig-leave to his ranting and demands for compo.
I've 'calculated' the leak at 645,000 barrels a day, based on an 21 inch pipe and a flow velocity of 10 mph.0 -

Off topic, I know, but out of interest, why the use of 'Hussein' Obama, other than the usual Barack?0 -
If I were BP Chief Exec this morning, I'd be sorely tempted to tell Mr Obama to get stuffed!
This doesn't absolve BP or any of the other companies involved in this horrific disaster to their moral and legal obligations to assist heavily in the clean-up, but to talk about compensation whilst sea-life are still dying and whilst precious coast-lines are still being wrecked is indicative of an American culture that is equally if not a greater pollutant than the spilt oil. The thing with BP is they are trying (desperately) to fix it.
Mr Obama is trying to incite hatred! In this country at least - is that not a crime?0 -

As many people have said the political rhetoric and double standards of the US makes me feel even more that the world is a dangerous place, not because of Iran etc but the US centric view of what is right and wrong. The Carbon Dioxide emissions debacle showed that.Awaiting a new sig0 -
I like the claim for the increased price of shrimps that a claimant normally buy, $17'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0

Isn't that just the capitalist supply and demand process that the US economy and ethos is built on?
EDit: If the price of shrimps is going up due to the oil spill then someone in the chain is already being compensated or is it profiteeringAwaiting a new sig0 -
BP killed the supply, its not an argument completely without merit. It depends how far bp will be held responsible. It seems likely they would have to pay every gulf business the difference in profits from last year, every hotel without tourists and so on which is pretty costly.
Do they pay that bill alone or 65% as partial owner, Im not sure because all usa officials refuse to mention any party being responsible apart from bp0
