Yes its slightly ironic that the gulf dispersed that much oil more easily then occurred in Alaska with the exxon-Valdez
Heat helps these things, did not realise that plus the oil price now is far greater then back in 1990's. The ability to pay for the mistake, (barring the loss of life that cannot be reversed of course) is far greater then would be the case in previous years
BP could act alot smarter, exxon left the gulf after realising the dangers of high gas in the oil but hopefully they are learning.
The whole russian debacle is quite interesting in its wider scope, drawing on their next elections even. Russia was always dangerous, not sure the share price should dip especially because it continues to be so
They make a mess there like a kitten with a ball string except BP gains 1/3 of revenue (profit?) from Russiaworth a punt
I sold at 511 as they looked full. Since then I've been trading them, right now Ive rebought my holding again. Lowest price this year was the 200 day average, right now that would give a downside target of about 450 which seems a realistic risk and I think 511 or greater is also possible and oil is not likely to fall under 100 or further unless the dollar strengthens and it keeps failing to do so.
Hence BP is not the weakest link imo0
