BP - off the hook ? ...and a BUY ?

I personally have lost a lot of respect for President Obama and some of his ridiculous comments, whereas before, I thought he was one of the Greatest Presidents ever.
What on earth is the point in mouthing off with the intent to financially close down / ruin BP when they are looking to the same company to financially support the clean up? Mr Obama is losing the plot on this one - and surely can see the adverse impact he is having. I am also failing to see what enormous disaster recovery support the American Government is putting into preserving seas and lands and wildlife of their homelands, considering this is on their patch! If this is 9/11 - where are all the American heroes! Just because it wasn't terrorism of the official meaning, doesn't mean to say 'the accident' hasn't had similarly devastating consequences that won't be fixed just by words - they need to get their fairy liquid out and start looking for cleaning volunteers! If that was my local beach, I'd be there as I'm sure any of my neighbours would be!0 -
Fascinating to see that Hussein Obama hasn't got even 50% of the National Guard mobilised for the 'assault' that's 'another 9/11'.
All he's done is talk down the share price (so his Democrat buddies get a sure thing on shorting, no doubt putting some aside for him!) and talked like the closet Marxist he is on grabbing private property. The man's a dangerous fool, and end-of-empire America is plunging ever deeper into debt crisis.
One thing that's looking good is for BP to borrow QEed fiat currency to hand to Hussein Obama and keep paying the Divi to shareholders.0 -
Obama is to give a speech tonight about this issue. You know he is going to blame BP.0

>You know he is going to blame BP.<
Yep. Hussein Obama certainly won't be blaming the Democrats under Clinton who caved into the warblings of 'greens' and 'woollies' and banned drilling on land and in shallow waters, forcing riskier deep-water wells.
America couldn't reconcile driving about in Hummers with drilling for oil amongst nice scenery. As ye sow, so shall ye reap!0 -

Why does he keep referring to the company as British Petroleum ... I thought they were legally called BP plc and that although BP initially stood for British Petroleum, this was changed to mean Beyond Petroleum at a later date!
I wish he could realise that the whole world is watching his ineffectiveness. This disaster desperately needs a leader to step up to the plate and mobilise citizens and the military to protect anything left protecting and clean what needs to be cleaned!
As lay people, citizens need to be told where there help is ... and then as with all natural disasters - assistance will come flooding in - instead of bloomin' oil!0 -
Why does he keep referring to the company as British Petroleum
This is simplistic rhetoric from the administration to distance the American 'government' from the disaster which is going to cause major environmental concerns off the American coast.
The American maxim - "There is a problem who shall we blame"
The Chinese maxim - "We have a problem, let us analyse this problem, find a workable solution and then there will be no problem"For myself I am an optimist - there does not seem to be much use being anything else.

more bad news for BP.The official estimate of the flow rate from the leaking gulf oil well has surged again, with government officials announcing Tuesday that 35,000 barrels (1.47 million gallons) to 60,000 barrels (2.52 million gallons) of oil a day are now gushing from the reservoir deep beneath the gulf.0

Owch I just saw that and again BP is behind the curve and saying they can maybe up capture rates to 30k
Why doesnt BP realise they need to do more then is necessary if only for the sake of show, get 100k of capture ability if at all possible and an armada of boats to skim so that it shows on those satellite pictures. Seems they are far too sensible0 -
If they are capturing most of the oil and at a rate of around 15000 barrels a day then I'm not sure how the leak could be 60000 barrels a day. The estimate (before capture) of 20K seems about right.
When this is all done Tony Hayward should write a book about it, I think it would make very interesting reading.0
