Bear bean bags..anyone used?

We purchased a bear bean bag whilst at the Gadget show at the start of April, we were told it would be 2 weeks delivery tops.
After the 2 weeks i rung them and got told due to the ash clouds the deliverys were delayed and it would be with us last thursday. No show.. since then i have rung and not got a reply, I emailed them a minute ago asking them what was going on with it to get a reply syaing we will recieve it bytthe 20th as now coming by boat.
Am i being impatient and unreasonable or are things delayed this much due to the plane probs we have had? Tbh they are based in Kent so assumed it would ahve come from this counrty but obviously not. This will be a 46 day delivery IF it comes on the 20th..not overly impressed tbh..no wonder it was cheap!!

We're in the same predicament; bought ours from Bear Bean bags on 10th April 2010 at the gadget show too. Called them on the 23rd April to find out the progress of the order and were informed that they'd be flown in from China to Germany where they would then be driven to the UK, all because of the ash eruption. We were assured that we'd have it by 7th May 2010 latest.
Since then, I've called them several times but no one answered the phone.
I don't think you are being impatient as we were told that we'd have the bean bag within 2 weeks when we pruchased them. I think that it is unprofessional and unfair that we the customers had to call them to find out about the delays, after all, they were quick to accept our payment and were given our e-mail addresses!
I wonder if the Gadget show would be able to help with this. I expect that they would have vetted the exhibitors at their show prior to allowing them in there too???0 -
Ha just literally rung them..no reply. I have to say i agree the time scale is ridiculas and i'm not impressed with their customer service at all. They do tend to call me back but im beginning to think im being truly fobbed off.
I will await a call either today or tom then consider the gadget show route via the NEC..not quite sure how to do that but where's there's a will theirs a way!
Was hoping it was a good reply and sorry to hear you haven't had yours yet..i hope we get them.

Sending a bean bag, by air freight? Last time I looked at a bean bag, it was huge and very light, exactly the kind of thing you don't ship by air. Nearly everything from China comes by boat, even high technology. I'd say you are being fobbed off.0

Hi well i emailed her too and got a call back within minutes. She was a bit shirty to begin with telling me the story about the volcanic ash and how they had changed it to boat instead..this takes 5 weeks apparantly..it would be here by the 20th at the latest and with us at the start of next week..hmm i said iv'e heard this before and am not convinced..she said that she had no reason to not think it wasn't coming?..she said she was very sorry and one of those things and that if i wanted a refund i was quite within my rights etc..i said id'e wait until the end of the week and call her again as will cancel then if nothing. I expressed it was a present and wasn't impressed at the lack of responces from them.
Rubbish rubbish service tbh and they will know this truly when/IF we ever get it! at the mo i dont want her sending ours out last so will keep shtum at the mo about their lack of customer service!
cybergibbons i agree with you although they are very big they aren't that heavy tbh so not quite sure why by air but i guess normally because its a lot quicker?..hmm we will see.0 -

Thanks gabyjane for the update. I was about to send the details to BBC Watchdog but I will wait till 20th before doing that. I am still unsure who I'd contact if I chose the Gadget show / NEC route...
I just called them again without response & I see no point in e-mailing if I will get same response. Perhaps, I will e-mail them on 20th May and see what they say first.0 -

No probs i did get across the fact i wasn't the only one waiting which wasn't good business for them so i will let you know as soon as i hear anything. We were going to buy dd an aubergine one..they have deff lost that sale i tell you! would quite happily pay above the odds just to get it tbh!0 -
Well just called them and the bags are there :j BUT she is inputting all data into system and will dispatch either tom or wed and will be with us thur or fri but can't give me a delivery day? hmm i am not sure again why it takes so long tbh but we will see. Every time i speak to her it's always 'next week'. Not a great company to deal with.0

Ok dh reminded me today is friday and no show so have just called them again.
A woman answered saying 'morning discounted goods'..to which i was like huh?! i asked r.e bean bag and was put on hold for a man to come on the phone. He told me the volcanic ash story then the fact that they had 160 awaiting despatch blah blah, i told him tbh mine was supposed to be out this week and if it wasn't ready to go they could forget it..bargain or not i will buy one from elsewhere. He assures me that ours has been dispatched but due to bank holiday and weekend it will be tue/wed when it arrives. Hehas given me the dleivery website and ref no to track it.
He owns the company so i told him that tbh i wasn't wishing to cause him trouble but i would take the matter further if i wasn't stopped being lied to, i said the only thing i wanted was someone to get in touch and explain what was happeneing instead of leaving us all dangling. I also said I would inform the gadget show to tell them how awful they are and that was his chance to be honest and tell me if it wasn't coming..he stuck to the above, gae me his mobile no and told me to call anytime..why do i ahve a feeling i wil be!
SO tue or wed..i would like to say i won't hold my breath but do expect it then. I told him it was a present which had gone out of the window and summer would be over by the time we got any use out of it..grrr..useless.0
